If your looking to purchase a VW golf gate go for it you will not be disappointed.
I love the car. The turbo makes driving everyday fun. The heated seats are awesome in the winter and I prefer the Clark plaid over the leather. The google car play is a great feature also. Being able to get navigation from your phone displayed on the car screen is a huge plus. I have had the car a little over 6 months and haven't had any issues and I also have a little over 14000 miles. The car is comfortable in traffic and on long trips. I would prefer it had a sunroof and I've seen cars with nicer wheels. But there really isn't much about the car I would say I would change. Stock from the factory it has all the comfort you need touch screen radio with satellite. And steering wheel controls are a huge plus it has volume control and ability to answer phone calls via Bluetooth. You can also scroll through the radio stations on the steering wheel. The car also has the ability to give you tips to save fuel economy through a blue menu. It will tell you when you are doing things that are wasting fuel like having your windows open or your car running stationary. All in all I would recommend the golf gate to anyone interested it has enough space to have 4 adults comfortably in it and the hatch back gives you the ability to fit a bike in the back with the seats down.

A great value for the money.
Performance is great. It is a really fun car to drive and very reliable. It is terribly small inside, though. Not a lot of cargo space or leg room. Having heated seats as a base option is nice. The interior is very well laid out and having apple CarPlay is a bonus. It accelerates really well.

The GTI has lots of power and style in a small package.
Great quality of materials on the inside and outside. The handling and power is good for the size. The hatchback makes it practical to be able to move a lot of things.

It's a fun, quick car that is as good for track days and canyon-carving as it is for daily commuting.
I like the power, the quick/direct steering, the e-differential, and the versatility of the hatchback form factor. I like the interior styling with plaid seats, and the subtle, "mature" hot hatch styling of the exterior. I have no complaints so far.

Fun to drive and all around reliable.
The reliability of this car is great! Having features that allow me to look at issues that come up at my fingertip has been helpful. The Audio system is another great feature that allows for Versatility by allowing you to listen to the radio or use other media streaming resources. Overall, it is a fun cat to drive and looks great too!

Well rounded vehicle for all ages.
I love how the car is manufactured. It is feels like it is made with quality materials. It fits into the sporty category as well as a family car. It is on the smaller side but it is very easy to drive. Turning radius is awesome and fits into anywhere. Gas consumption is good, normal day to day driving can get you about 20-25 mpg. The only bad thing so far with VW is that my battery died so quickly. The car is only 3 years old but I had to replace the battery. It does drive smooth and it is a very comfortable ride.

Gti is a fun little car to drive. You will love it.
Love my gti. Fun and peppy. Have the manual transmission which are hard to find nowadays. I installed a sunroof afterwards. Wish I wouldn't have cheated out and would have gotten the model with that included. The only thing I don't like is that the seat is too low and the steering wheel has to be low so I can see over the wheel.

Best hot-hatch available on the us market.
Lots of good comfort and safety features. Adaptive cruise control is amazing. The adaptive headlights are great and they're led so I do not need to worry about replacing bulbs. Driving my gti in sport mode is much more fun than driving my prior car. Get one!

All of the current versions of the gate have the same exact power and torque.
I like how smooth and comfortable it is. I also like that it is a hatchback. I dislike that it only comes in a 4 door variation and the model s does not come with led headlights.

Very reliable, not a car that creates an exciting bond.
Overall it is a really great car. Good mileage and great powering. No technical problems over all it is very reliable. It just has some minor electrical glitches every once in a while. It is just lacking passion in it for me. Does not have much character.

VW gti sport: great car - bad tires.
I love the look and comfort of my sport - however, I have had problems with the paint and tires. The car is fun to drive, pretty reliable, and well-appointed with new technology. I have also been pleasantly surprised with the gas mileage. However, at less than 33,000 miles and regular driving, 3 of the expensive performance tires have worn or blown.

My 2017 grey Volkswagen gti is a pretty reliable car.
The car is very reliable. It performs as expected. You can tell if you are going over a pothole, though, so it is not as smooth as the luxury cars. The sunroof inside window keeps sliding to partially open, and that is really annoying. Overall, though, it is not a bad car.

Best car I have ever owned. PERIOD
This is my 4th VW (2013 Jetta Sportwagen TDI, 2014 Jetta TDI Sportwagen, 2020 Jetta SE owned before) and this one is my favorite. Incredible handling for a torquey fwd hatchback, awesome a/c, killer brakes, mind blowing wet weather performance and so friggin reliable. I’m looking 104k miles with zero issues! You want fun, safety, utility, economy, and reliability all one package? Here it is. Don’t worry! Since mkv US market GTIs have been phenomenal.

Great car that gets you there quickly.
It is a very fun car to drive. The acceleration is great. It looks sporty enough but not so much that others may question my endowment. I spilt recommend this car to everyone. My only complaint is that I did not splurge and get the golf r. That would have been a blast!

Pros from Owners

The gas mileage IS amazing. Everything is so effortless it is amazing. This was an vehicle I will buy again if I would ever have to get a new car. I love this car and I will drive it into the ground. It is my favorite car. And also VW stands behind their cars so well.

This vehicle handles and accelerates extremely well. It is comfortable, the interior is nice, and the fact that it comes with heated seats is a great extra additional feature. It is good on gas mileage and is surprisingly roomy.

Cons from Owners

dislikeFilled Alyssa L.

I haven't found any yet. I do know getting parts and all for this car is going to be expensive. That is what I would say is a downfall would be the parts for this car is expensive. But these cars are known to last a really long time. So I would not even worry about anything with them.

dislikeFilled Randi M.

It does not have the most legroom. It requires expensive oil changes and premium fuel. It does not have a lot of additional 'luxury' features such as a sunroof or dual climate control. It speeds up too quickly.
