I only had the car on the road a few weeks after buying it. Has a lot of miles on it and the motor runs great but after driving a few short trips the tranny started making an aweful clunking sound..mechanic says it's in limp mode so afer resetting it it ran for about a mile and went right back into limp node. Frustrated owner here! Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Good mileage, fully loaded, comfortable, and no issues.
My vehicle has a very good gas mileage. It does not break down or fail to start ever. Very reliable and comfortable to drive.

2000 VW Passat TCM issues
Problems with the passenger side floor board, where the TCM is located, collecting water and causing the TCM to malfunction.

5 Speed Volkswagen Passat
The Passat is a really nice car. Personally, I can't drive an automatic transmission, but my boyfriend drives it for me, and it's a really nice ride. It can be tricky when things go wrong mechanically, because Volkswagen is really weird in general. I like the sunroof.

2000 Passat high mileage, high reliability.
The car has been nothing but reliable and is still going strong at 163k miles. Obviously there are going to be some creaks and squeaks but any issues that I have had were very easy to fix.

2000 VW passat is it worth it?
Starter went out, relay switch went out and there is no electrical power inside the vehicle. Also for some reason it is a gas hog. Drives okay in the snow it is front wheel drive which I guess helps. I have had my car in the shop at least three times this year.

Gets good gas mileage, luxury in a smaller size vehicle. Good pickup for a 4 cylinder car, probably from the turbo. Only complaint is it goes through front end parts often, and brakes never work as good as I think they should.
Good handling & rides nice for a smaller car but expensive front end parts.

It is a truck which is very useful and dependable.

It is great on mileage, the sunroof, locking option for gas door and trunk.
I really like the car but it always has issues with the tail lights not working correctly due to loose connection. It also likes to burn oil with only 125000 miles on it. The hood latch is a plastic piece on a cable. The plastic handle gets brittle and breaks. Mine has broken a few times. Needs to be a better design as It's in the grill on the outside of car were the elements make it weak. There is a handle inside and then you go outside and pull the cable more to get latch to release. Very poor design.

Sound system is amazing, and sunroof is a great bonus.
The car runs great. The only downfall is that the turbo engine does make you burn a lot of gas, but other than that great car.

Timing service must be done between 130, 000 and 160000 miles.
I absolutely love my Passat. It runs better than a lot of these newer vehicles. As long as you do the proper preventive maintenance your Volkswagen will last forever.

I enjoy the comfort, style and the reliability.
My passat is a very comfortable car to ride in and to drive. It is reliable and built well. It gets great gas mileage on highways and in town driving. The downfalls of owning and driving a volkswagen is that the parts are a little expensive and that not very many mechanics work or specialize on them so the shop rates are a bit higher. The engine compartment is small and it makes working on them quite a bit more difficult as well.

Turbocharged 2000 Volkswagen Passat.
My 2000 VW Passat is pretty reliable. The cars performance is great, with lots of power. It is equipped with a sunroof, power windows, adjustable mirrors, 6 disc CD changer and more. The vehicle is comfortable with decent amount of room. The vehicle is great overall with normal problems that you run into with just any car.

I got it my Passat used about 10 years ago. It's been a very dependable car.
I used to love my car. The last two times I had to get a smog check it didn't pass. They said I didn't drive it enough. I think I should get some sort of reward for not driving it so much. Otherwise it's has been a great car. Its a 6 cylinder so when I need it, like for up hills, its awesome.

2000 Volkswagen passat fully loaded v6 engine great gas mileage.
No problems at all great gas mileage and really neat engine its very loaded and has many functions for an 18 year old car leather seats everything automatic sunroof uses synthetic oil and european filter and even has a cab filter the spare wheel is a regular chrome tire just like the other 4.

Great vehicle, great manufacturer, very reliable! I have owned this car for several years now and did not have to do much in maintaining it, just the change of the timing belt and the oil change on a regular basis. Love it love it!

The VW is a safe car has many airbags.
VW is a nice car comfortable and great on gas. I had this car for 13 years. The only problem is that you must take the engine apart to get to any issue with the car. This takes a lot of time in labor which is not cheap. This car is a great first car for first car of a 16 year old. I am sure the newer models have a much better features.

My Volkswagen is pretty cool.
Great ride - reliable, good miles, great to carry the dog. Needs brakes and to replace the motor mounts but otherwise this is my favorite vehicle. While this is a 20 year old vehicle, the car handles almost as good as the 1999 passat that I recently got rid of, but this car has better tires.

The cupholders are flimsy and spill drinks easily. The washer fluid light breaks.
It's an older car with a lot of miles on it but for Its age and Its wear and tear it still drives nicely and there are no major issues.

Good little get around car
Vehicle performs well, is very reliable. Gas mileage has is not as good due to age. The car looks nice, handles well and has great acceleration for a car that is roughly 20 years in age. Would definitely buy a newer passat given the chance. Also the tech features on the car are significantly advanced for its manufacturer year.
