You need to get this car now!
I love my car! It is great in the snow, amazing in any weather. The look and feel is very upscale and luxurious. I will never purchase another brand unless I can afford a luxury car. I love the safety of the vehicle. The warranty is also amazing. It is hard to beat!

Tells you where the nearest gas station when you have 30 miles left.
Drives smoothly. Sometimes overly safe with the emergency brake. Great gas mileage, alerts you to nearest gas station. Tech features are awesome! Lots of room for traveling and friends. Seats are comfortable. Heated steering wheel and seats are cozy. Great interior.

Volkswagen tiguan SUV great gas mileage.
I love my car, I wish it was a little bigger with two kids, but otherwise perfect for now. It is much roomier than a sedan. It is safe and reliable and excellent gas mileage for an SUV. It has a good sound system. I love the reverse camera and all around really good car!

Great comfort w/ some interior issues.
I love this car. Few minor issues. Seats often break as far as being able to move up and down. The seat material makes water look like a stain. Sensors go off from time to time that are not an issue. No vehicle problems. Drove the car from la to NY and it was comfortable.

Family safe and very reliable.
I have not had a problem with my car thus far. I previously had a 2018 tiguan last year that worked perfectly as well. Tiguans are very reliable and family safe cars. They are extremely spacious and make grocery shopping very easy! I will continue to be a Volkswagen customer for years to come.

Stop/start engine detail.
My vehicle is reliable. It comes with awesome features such as a sunroof. The trunk is spacious. It also has a cool engine stop/start feature to conserve gas. The leather interior is easy to clean. The car itself is nice looking. It is a four door all wheel drive so I can accommodate 5 people at a time.

Good looking but functional also.
Very supportive seats comfy, love the pickup power it has it can get out of its own way, this car had easy clean seats spacious back seats for long car rides, and the trunk space is huge! This car has easy back seats to fold down leaving lots of room for storage or transferring something.

Volkswagen 2019 great car
It has many technological features that make driving while trying to make a call or text very convenient. The comfort level is great since it is very spacious and has a big trunk space. The driving is relatively smooth other than the fact that the engine power is not the greatest and sometimes takes a while to hit full speed.

It's a good car I just did not pick it and I drive it with my dad because I only have my permit and he's over protective of it because its a lease its goes fast, its drinks a lot of gas and its very big it can either be a 5 seater or 7 seater you choose how you want it.

Not worth the headache
Absolutely disappointed in Volkswagen. I purchased a 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan and two days after the engine light came on. They were kind of enough to provide another however, 4 days later the engine light came on again. After "cleaning" the filter valve they returned my car. About a week and half later the engine light came on again. They had to replace the part without consulting me first! I found out they replaced the part when they called me to pick up the vehicle. When I contacted Volkswagen Corporate they weren't able to do anything. No credit, nothing!!!!! Take your business else where. The product is not reliable!

Dwfect in the crash Breaking system
I hate the S model it has no luxuries not even an ajustable lumbar support. Also the socalled crash breaking systems on this vehicle will activate all on its own when there is nothing around anywhere nere you which causes the brakes to apply in the rear of the vehicle wearung them out and they will go metal to metal with no warning and ruin your rotors as well. And Do Not expect the dealership or Vw of america to admit to the problem the dealership is claiming normal wear so its the iwner or persons leasing the vehicles responsibility to pay for it. When in reallity it is a defect in the vehicle systems that should be recalled and repaired

Computer issues
My car is about eight months old and I’m going in for the fifth time because I have so many issues with the media center. They did finally agree to replace it and I was actually considering finding out about the lemon law because of the hassles. Now my seatbelt light and belll goes off at random intervals and the dealer says well it’s just a sensitive sensor. I’m calling BS on that. I’m already looking at changing cars because this one is such an issue. The rough transmission which they say is OK because this computer says it’s OK, the jerky starts, it’s just more than I want to deal with. If I had to recommendIf I had to recommend it I could not do that with a good conscience. The plus side is that it’s roomy but that doesn’t help if your screen goes black and you’re depending on your map when you’re in an unfamiliar area. At this point I’m just concerned how long this computer will last and the car will die on some road.

New issue every few months
It seems that every few months my check engine light is on, something is failing, or it just has general issues. I want to love this car because the size is great, its such a comfy interior and I love the look of it. However after 5 years of owning it, I have had to replace Two batteries, replace all the spark plugs(after it stopped working while I was on the interstate), alternator gave out at 75,000 miles, and craziest of all to me was needing a new water pump at 60,000 miles. These problems don’t seem major but considering the time frame It has been a demanding car for one that still doesn’t have 80,000 miles on it. With the money spent on repairs, I should have just spent more on the front end and gotten something more reliable. All this money on top of general upkeep and a set of new tires hasn’t ended up being the value car I hoped for.

The car has a beautiful moon roof with a optional sun shade.
The car is great. I really like that the main screen is touch it makes getting directions much easier the seats are a very well made leather and I feel the safety is great. It has a slight lag on acceleration and the brake is very sensitive. The seats are really comfortable and there is plenty of space in the back for my car seat.
accountCircle Gabriela P
The model of this car is spacious and fits a lot more than you think.
The car is very wobbly and every time I hit the breaks it is not a smooth stop it is very aggressive and other people in the car feel uncomfortable. The breaks usually make a squeaking noise and the breaks do not sound great from time to time. However it has never broken down on me and gets me to where I need to go.

What Do Critics Say About the VW Tiguan?

  • Consumer Reports says the 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan offers drivers and passengers plenty of space, with slightly lower owner satisfaction scores.
  • Edmunds rates the 2019 Tiguan at 4.1/5, praising the excellent passenger room, but doesn’t like the bumpy suspension.
  • Kelley Blue Book users give the Tiguan a 4.4/5, enjoying the high-tech safety features, but owners don’t like the relatively weak engine.

What Common Problems Does the 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan Have?

Common problems found on the 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan include a loss of acceleration, lane assist unavailable warning messages, as well as hard upshifting while changing gears. Overall, these problems are similar to some other small SUVs on the market, although repair costs may be higher in some cases.

A loss of acceleration is the most widespread complaint from 2019 Tiguan owners in the first 5,000 miles. The engine feels weak as it accelerates to highway speeds in some cases. There are known issues with the mass airflow sensor which cause it to lose performance. Replacing the sensor is usually done under warranty on such a new SUV, although if it’s out of warranty it’s about $200.

Lane assist unavailable warning messages are another issue reported by owners at around 10,000 miles. Usually the problem is simply a software issue. Most dealers will update the safety system software for free, while some may charge around $50.

Hard upshifting while changing gears also happens to some 2019 Tiguan models at around 25,000 miles. Trouble changing gears is most commonly caused by transmission control module software when it’s so early into the ownership experience. Many dealers will update the transmission for free, while others charge roughly $100.

There are five recalls on the 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan, which is similar to some other small SUVs. The most serious recall is for the rear coil springs, which may fracture. VW will replace the rear springs on affected models for free. Most of the other recalls cover vehicle warning systems and labels.

How Long Will the 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan Last?

A well-maintained 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan can last over 200,000 miles, which is around 100,000 miles less than the long-lasting Toyota RAV4. Regular annual maintenance costs are higher than other small SUVs, according to data provided by Repair Pal, at $570 per year.

As a used 2019 VW Tiguan reaches 100,000 miles, and depending on the vehicle history, owners should be prepared to replace the EVAP canister for $450, coolant temperature sensor costing $500, as well as the suspension ball joints which cost $200.

Volkswagen tiguan, great bang for the buck!
I have only had one problem, with the engine randomly shutting down while driving randomly. It was repaired under warranty by Volkswagen. Performance is ok for the money, though I wish it had a little more power. Reliability is great, other than the previously mentioned issue. Comfort and features are very nice for the price range.

Sporty and fun to drive! A great car if you like a responsive firm ride.
Well first and foremost, I love the sporty body style of my Volkswagen. That is the main reason we went with the r line trim package. The car is very solidly built and really fun to drive. I always drive in sport mode. I like the technology package which is fairly easy to learn. The sound system is great. One of my favorite features is the big sunroof. Lots of legroom for passengers is the back seat. Good head room. The only option I dislike is the economy mode where the car shuts off at stop lights. It is not a smooth transition from off to on. Thank goodness you can turn this feature off. I wish it could be turned off permanently rather than every time you start the car. This is our first Volkswagen and we would consider getting another one when the lease is over.

We purchased a Volkswagen tiguan se and could not be any happier. We have the additional 3rd row seating, which allows for a larger trunk space. A nice and safe vehicle for intermediate drivers.
There are different modes of driving depending on terrain, weather, etc. It has a sports mode and automatic headlights. Touch screen dash to navigate music, media, navigation, phone, settings and more. Digital display of speed as well as an estimate of how far your vehicle can travel with the amount of fuel it has. Very reliable vehicle and easy to drive. Appears bigger than how you drive it. Has a panoramic roof which can be closed off. Only downside is the rear seating. Almost no control of ventilation or options to change temperature and no heated seats.

Nice car overall! Some minor issues here and there but it drives nice.
Sometimes there's problems with the back lights not turning off and the responsiveness of locking the car without the key fob in hand can be slow. It performs decent for its weight as it has a smallish engine for its size, it doesn't have an all too great acceleration. Very reliable, never broken down on me before. Very comfy for everyone in the car. Hatchback is interesting as it alludes to it being a 7 seater when it's really only 5. But otherwise great!

The Volkswagen tiguan is an outstanding SUV. It offers great handling, plenty of leg and arm room., comfortable interior and ride. It is also technologically advanced and offers numerous features that enhance safety, efficiency and convenience.

VW tiguan has great look, the technology is great excellent storage capacity.
I love the redesign of the tiguan. They added almost an additional foot for more storage capacity. The technology is years advanced compared to the model before the redesign. The only thing that bothers me is that is takes some time to get rid of fogged windows. They have made it better than it was before the redesign, but I do not see the same issue with other types of vehicles. I like Volkswagen because you get the 'germany design sensibility' for less than you would if you bought a much more expensive vehicle like a Mercedes or BMW.

I have had no problems with it so far. This new tiguan model it is definitely better than the previous one, a lot more space in the front and back as well as in the trunk. Chose dark leather seats this time since light leather gets painted with jeans (bluish tone) and wouldn't come off. I feel I save more gas with this new model as well. We usually refuel weekly and we pay something between $35-$50.

Safety features are subpar.
Very comfortable and has all of the top of the line features. However, the way that it has “smart” features (ie. Lane assistance and automatic brakes) is not well thought out. It has a hard time reading the surrounding lines which makes you have to strong arm the steering wheel to stay in the correct lane, and automatic brakes are hyper sensitive and will make you brake with nothing in front of you. These “safety” features end up making the vehicle less safe. Great mileage, very comfortable.

The auto-start on my tiguan is not great. I think the car gets confused when I lift my feet off the breaks and it auto-starts. When I press the gas it goes back and forth first before it starts driving smoothly. Also, the apple CarPlay is always messing up. I am not sure if it's because it needs an update, but I have reset it myself and it starts working again.

Never cared so much about a car before!
It has so many useful features. It had a backup camera. The cat alerts you add you get too close too something, whether in the front or back. It will even break and not let you hit things. It has adaptive cruise control, which is especially great for long trips. It has 7 seats. The back 5 can fold over. It also has a huge moon roof. Great size that does not have that big car feel. Does not ride too high or too low. And so much more! Only negative I have experienced so far is that the android auto app is no longer working for the car to hook up my phone through USB.

White tiguan. Sleek design and high end interior.
Perfect for road trips. Quiet inside and smooth ride as well. Seats are plush and comfortable and interior is sleek and well thought out. Great gas mileage during long trips and full sunroof makes it great for summer drives. Best feature is third row seating for children, or extra trunk space when third row seats are folded flat.

Amazing vehicle, nothing bad to say about it!
Vehicle is absolutely fantastic. I cannot come up with any single thing that is wrong with it. It is so spacious and very comfortable. I wanted one of these vehicles for so long and it was a dream come true when I finally had the chance to get the vehicle.

I think is just crazy, is that this brand new vehicle does not have memory seats.
The driver's seat is not as comfortable as I would like it. I thought the seat would break-in, as the vehicle was new, but it still is not better. The reliability is great and the drive is fantastic. I wish I had been more well versed on the technology features not included in my model, but overall I am very happy.

I love my huge moonroof! It is amazing!
Comfortable seating and nice options. The engine leaves some to be desired. Not a get up and go vehicle. The Volkswagen tiguan is a smaller version of the Volkswagen atlas, with available third row seating. I have a six foot tall son and he is comfortable riding in the front or back seat.

Good vehicle SUV and great service.
It is a good SUV I do not see anything wrong with the Volkswagen. Comfortable, beautiful and economic. Warranty is perfect and economic. Good materials and excellent service. Running super and getting my work. I liked this vehicle and the space for my children.

Spacious, durable, classy and stylish.
The Volkswagen tiguan is an awesome, durable car. It saves on gas, I spend about $40/week. It is very spacious has enough room for camping trips, adding on extra seats. Lovely to take out on a nice sunny day for a ride through the countryside and coast (nice sunroof).

Reads the distance between cars and automatically slows down on cruise control.
So techy. Great on gas! I love the remote start, it is perfect for both winter as well as summer when the car is too hot. It’ll read the temperature and put the ac on! Also great in the winter with the all wheel drive. Oil changes are every 10,000 miles which is also a bonus of not having to go get it done so often!

My vehicle is black and its fast.
It's a good car I just did not pick it and I drive it with my dad because I only have my permit and he's over protective of it because its a lease its goes fast, its drinks a lot of gas and its very big it can either be a 5 seater or 7 seater you choose how you want it.

2019 VW tiguan, a great overall crossover.
This is the first Volkswagen I have owned. Purchased it after owning BMW's for 15 years. I find the quality to be exceptional, the price right and the design pleasing. I especially like the digital readout electronics on the screen and the instrument pod. I'd like it to have a bit more power and economy, but overall I am very happy to have leased the 2019 tiguan.

Ok vehicle but this is what I do not like.
It is slow even though it has turbo. It takes forever for it to get up to speed. While driving at a higher rate of speed on the interstate it seems like it Is Difficult to keep straight and I feel like I am all over the road. The headlights should be all led, not just the daytime running lights.

Great family car with lots of features.
I love the panoramic sunroof and safety features like lane assist. I also have the optional third row. It is small, but perfect for hauling extra kiddos. The engine power could be improved. The gas mileage could also be improved. Tan or light gray colored leather interior would also be a nice option.

VW safety report for 2019 tiguan.
The only problem I encounter with this vehicle is the start stop option. At a red light or stop sign I wish wouldn't do that. Other than that I love my vehicle. At times driven on the highway the motion sense will kick in and it'll brake for me when I am still in control of the vehicle and that can be troublesome and cause a headache.

It is such a smooth driving car.
I love the car in it drives very smooth and it is comfortable to take on long car rides. The car reacts quickly and has features that I really enjoy, such as the radio setup. The only issue is that the oil consumption is not quite on par. It might need a new engine but that is because it is a lemon not because it is a bad car.

Good car would highly recommend.
When driving the car has shut off all of a sudden and almost got sideswiped. Other than that it is a great car. It has a nice moon roof and plenty of room for a family. The heated seats heat up really fast and the apple carplay feature is great. I recommend this vehicle.

Great car to buy for family!
Very good and comfortable SUV to drive in mountains. Comfortable and tall. A lot of space for storage. You can a lot of features to make it more comfortable to drive. Also, you can add a third row of seats if necessary. Of course it will lower car storage space. Would recommend this one all the way!

Lots of room, perfect for a family or a single person. The double sunroof is a great feature. Many charging ports. Bluetooth. Downfall is the radio completely turns off when you are on the phone, which can be annoying. The Bluetooth sometimes has a hard time when a person is speaking on the phone. The person will sounds distant and makes it difficult. Remote start is awesome. But way too many keys and buttons to press to start it up.

I love my VW t- great family car!
No problems, love all the features including safety on side mirrors and automatic stopping. I also love the sound system. I have the step above the first level and I love it. I also love the color it came in. Perfect size.. Has a 3rd row but not really usable for an adult.

High quality, well-made, and looks great! Can't ask for more than that!
Absolutely love my vehicle. The interior trim is super high quality. The gas mileage is excellent. I get on average 26-28 mpg. It shuts off when stopped to save gas mileage. It rides very smooth, and has great acceleration. Only issue was a small issue with the windshield wipers which is minor and an easy fix.

It is an all-around great little compact SUV!
The tiguan sel r line is a really great vehicle. It gets good gas mileage. Does very well in snowy conditions. It has many useful and helpful added features. It looks very nice, much like a 'luxury' vehicle. It could use a little more power in the engine department.

Panoramic roof. Big trunk. 4motion.
Great handling, love the 4 motion feature I have never felt so safe driving in the snow. It has been extremely reliable and gets great gas mileage. More than enough room for 2 big dogs in the trunk and love the panoramic sunroof. Great price for the car, couldn't ask for anything more.
