The 2007 Subaru Legacy is a Vehicle History Owner’s Choice Award winner, so it’s earned a recommendation. With 250 horses under the hood and a first-class experience in the cabin, it’s well worth the $7,000 sticker price for a 2.5L GT spec.B model. But, basic maintenance will cost you over $600 a year, and fuel economy could be better, making this one of the more expensive used cars to keep running.
Is the 2007 Subaru Legacy a Good Used Car?
- Overall Rating 8/10 – The 2007 Subaru Legacy is an excellent car, combining power and comfort at a modest price.
- Interior, Comfort & Cargo 8/10 – Wagon models easily compete with smaller SUVs for total interior space, and the ride is smooth and luxurious through and through.
- Reliability 7/10 – The car won’t break down on you, but basic maintenance like transmission fluid changes and tire rotations will be more expensive than average in this class.
- Safety 7/10 – Crash test scores are really, really good, and anti-lock brakes come standard, but traction control costs extra.
- Gas Mileage 6/10 – Even within the realm of turbocharged, high-horsepower sedans, the Legacy isn’t very efficient.
- Value 7/10 – Sticker prices are lower than you’d expect for something this luxurious and this powerful, but steep maintenance and refueling costs will make up the difference after a year or two of ownership.

Yes. It has not had many problems. I did have to replace the spark plugs, but all other repairs were just routine stuff.
This vehicle is very reliable if taken care of and the oil level is payed attention to. All Subarus burn engine oil. Every 105,000 miles the timing belt/ head gaskets service is due. If done vehicle will be reliable.
It is super reliable. Subaru’s are one of the most reliable cars out there. I have not had any problems with it.
How Is the Technology?
Entertainment technology in the 2007 Subaru Legacy is impressive for the model year. MP3 players, 6-disc CD changers, auxiliary input, and premium speaker systems are all up for grabs.
Safety technology is decent. You’ve got anti-lock brakes as a standard feature, but advanced features like traction control are mostly available as part of optional packages, so it might be impossible to track one down that has all the features you want.

Do Owners Recommend the 2007 Subaru Legacy?
Yes! I love my car. It is reliable and runs well. I have been driving it for five years and I have only had to have repairs done a couple times.
For people in a snowy state or a multi- season state the Subaru legacy is a great vehicle. Being all wheel drive you can tackle anything the weather throws at you. But for those in a dry climate it's not the most fuel efficient compared to most front or rear wheel drive 4 cylinders.
Yes, my Subaru is a wonderful car. It does awesome in the snow since it is all wheel drive. I love driving it.
