In vehicles with a combustion engine, an exhaust manifold plays a vital role in collecting exhaust cases from the engine’s cylinders and funneling them safely away from the vehicle. Sadly, when exhaust manifolds (or the bolts holding them together) fail, harmful leaks and other issues can occur.
Are there any open recalls on the Dodge RAM 1500 Hemi tick?
This problem, which is reportedly caused by a bad exhaust manifold, does not have any formal recalls issued for it at the time of writing (September 2020). Still, the problem is well documented with online complaints and reviews.

2011 Dodge RAM 1500: Broken Manifold Bolts Causing Engine “Tick”
NHTSA Complaint ID: 11321983
In this NHTSA complaint (filed April of 2020), the owner of a 2011 Dodge RAM 1500 claims an audible ticking noise coming from the engine. After having the vehicle inspected, it was discovered that the manifold bolts had broken, which was likely causing the ticking sound.
Because of the defective manifold bolts, the owner claims there was also an exhaust leak that created a dangerous situation while the Hemi engine was running.

NHTSA Complaint ID: 11317189
Similar to the previous complaint, the owner of this 2012 Dodge RAM with the Hemi engine reported in March of 2020 that he or she was also noticing a ticking sound coming from the truck’s engine bay. This owner also mentions that the sound seems to lessen or stop after the engine has warmed up.
Did the owner have the truck inspected at a dealer? No, but they do believe these issues are related to the manifold bolts due to this being a recurring problem on RAM models with the Hemi engine.
