Across the 2010 model year, the Kia Forte came in a number of different configurations, using either the 2.0L 4Cylinder engine or the slightly larger 2.4L 4Cylinder. While both use SAE 5W-20 synthetic motor oil, the capacities vary a bit -- the smaller engine will take 4.1 quarts, while the larger is capable of holding 4.5 quarts. In either case, You can substitute SAE 5W-30 over the short term. However, this is not advisable, if it is avoidable; the use of oil with an inferior viscosity can introduce friction into Your system, which can cause premature engine wear. Even if it's a few more dollars per oil change, it's always recommended to go with the best oil for Your vehicle -- in the case of the 2010 Kia Forte, that oil is SAE 5W-20.

The 2010 Kia Forte 2.4 Engine oil capacity is 4.5 quarts (4.2 liters) and the 2.0 Engine oil capacity is 4.1 quarts (3.8 liters). Kia recommends using the 5W-20 for better fuel economy.

I have used sae 5/20 in my forte for years and have had no problems so far. 260k miles and don't use a drop. I would recommend a p.c.v valve replacement every 20k miles on Kia vehicles as they do go bad and will cause one to use oil. They are relatively cheap and makes a world of difference in performance.
