While the 2010 GMC Sierra 1500 is a relatively durable and reliable truck all around, the transmission is one of its weaker points; that's not to say that it's terribly unreliable, but there's a good chance that You'll have issues with it -- albeit minor or significant -- over the lifetime of Your truck. GMC has put out a number of technical service bulletins, and drivers have reported a small host of problems. The most common transmission issue is harsh shifting, particularly between first and second gear. The problem has been traced back to the wiring harness for the torque converter clutch. Drivers also noted a number of diagnostic fault codes, including P0776, P0796, P2714, and P2723; these are typically caused by a pressure leak in the clutch regulating valve.

Some potential problems with the transmission in a 2010 gmc sierra are grinding gears, lack of response and contamination due to lack of maintenance.
