To reset the alarm in a 2008 Honda Civic insert the ignition key into the drivers door lock cylinder and rotate it to the left then to the right, You may have to repeat it once. This process seems to be a little problematic with the 08 because of door lock cylinder issues where they would bind up and You couldn't turn it with the key. The security system will automatically set 15 seconds after locking the doors. This is to deter crooks from trying to steal Your car. The red security light on the dash will flash when it's activated. The system will not activate if one of the doors was open or hood or trunk is open.

To reset the alarm in a 2008 honda civic you will need to unlock the door with the key, open the door, lock the door, then close the door, then unlock it with the key again.
