Chevrolet has issued a recall on the Chevy Cruze for antifreeze that has been known to leak at the thermostat housing. This is usually caused by a bad connection between the coolant lines and the thermostat. If You have Your VIN number then I recommend checking with the national highway traffic safety adMINIstration to see if Your vehicle is involved in the recall. If it is then Chevy will replace the faulty connection for free at any authorized dealership. You do not want to be losing coolant because it can lead to Your vehicle overheating and could cause permanent damage to Your engine in the long run. Always be sure to follow up with any recalls that are issued for Your car.

I’m having this problem now it’s at the dealership now this is ridiculous it’s costing me 1,325 to repair it today 7/9/2022 and they won’t pay for it and if it’s under recall why not? There needs to be a class action suit filed here’s the number to Chevrolet Division to find out if it’s really a recall and how to get reimbursed 1-800-222-1020 I will be calling Monday 8am-5pm good luck everyone!!

The antifreeze recall on a chevy cruze is related to the coolant leaking from the thermostat housing.

2013 Cruze gets one coolant leak fixed, and then another appears. Over and over. I'm done with GM products.

I have replaced this three times now in 3 years on my sister in laws 2016 Cruz. Down to 20 minutes. Make sure you have hose clamp pliers. Over an hour and a half the first time fighting to get the clamps off. Not a difficult repair with the right pliers. Dorman has a lifetime warranty so I have only paid for two at this point. The plastic cracks and in two cases broke completely where the larger hose attaches in the front.

Do they make a smaller or less temp thermostat for this car..it seems that everythingbis getting to hot..back in the day instead of putting a 200 or 220 degree thermostat in we would drop it down to a 180 degree thermostat which wouldn't let the motor get so hot and would reduce heat and pressure on all these plastic parts..just an idea whats everyone else's thoughts on this.?

Cruze-2016 Since 2019 - we have had the same issues. Codes continuous through the yrs P0011 & P0133 Engine Light and leaking coolant. We have had 2 manifold catalytic converters, water pump, 1-2nd Cat, 3ea.-Bank 1-O2 sensors & 2 Bank 2-O2 , 4 ea- camshaft actuators and Camshaft Solenoid, 2 pressure test 2nd 1 die test, among a few other parts just trying to fix this and 2 dealerships and private mechanic cant figure out the problem. The car would lose pickup and this past April the engine stopped completely. After each repair the max in miles we ever got till the engine light came on was 60 miles & the lowest was 5miles it came on. This car has not been inspected it was due 18 months ago, but it wont pass due to engine lights. I'm waiting for a cop to pull my husband or daughter over, I will flip my lid. On top of the inconvenience, they had our car last time for 3 1/2 months because the 2 Cats were on backordered, oh ya and would not give us a car, they would reimburse us 300.00 a week if we rented one, but after turning in the receipts it could take 4-6 weeks to get the money back. Who the hell has 1200.00 to take out of there budget a month & then wait!!!! I don't know how many people know but certain year of the cruze's that were built in California and sold in other states are under a Extended Warranty till 2031 or 150,000 miles. Research it. It covers more then you will believe. Everything but the Water pump has been covered as far as parts and labor. The problem is nobody can figure out what the real issue is.

I have a 2012 Chevy Cruze LTZ. I just bought this car a couple months ago and I even googled if this yr Cruze had any issues. Over and over I got it was a very reliable car with great gas milage. Which is true about the gas mileage. I'm shocked it's still getting the mileage it gets. Im doing the whole thing by myself. The intake manifold and engine cover and thermostat and tune up too. I changed the cabin filter and it was horrible and also the engine air filter. I put engine cleaner in the oil and then the oil plug was stuck. So I changed out the coil pack and went to change the plugs and replace them with the Bosch DBL iridiums. 3 of them were stuck and so I took it to a shop to have the oil drain plug and spark plugs removed and just let them finish. They then tell me the spark plugs aren't coming out. I gave him a look and said.Oh hell no these will be coming out. The next day I called a friend who is a avionics mech and he brought me over some stuff called mouse milk and had them out in 5 mins. I am going to have her running right. Im determined.I am doing it myself so it is done right. I do not trust anyone anymore. I will have her purrring

2014 LTZ, 1.4L battery cable, oil pan gasket leaked and replaced, valve cover leaked and replaced, now thermostat housing leaking another$480. I always wanted to support the workers in this country and buy a car made here. GM's total disregard for quality and not owning up to the obvious poor engineering will not earn my business in the future. Car has 70,000 miles. I'm done with GM.

2015 Cruze overheated this morning. 7/26/22. Less than 50,000 miles. I have always been a Chevy fan but you can't put plastic in HOT PLACES CHEVY! I won't buy another Chevy if they won't make this right. I MEAN IT.

Our 2013 LTZ has been a disaster the last 4-5 years. Around 100K miles I replaced the turbo, thermostat and housing, several coolant lines, intake manifold, and valve cover. We let my sister-in-law use it for about 50K miles and now that we have it back, it is having more issues (had some with her too - she replaced something in the coolant system). It overheated and blew a radiator hose last week. Getting it back from the shop today (had it towed via insurance - garage is trying to gouge me), and hoping it’s not a head gasket. If it’s not, checking the water pump, since that’s a big issue with them. If it’s a head gasket issue, I’ll probably just get rid of the stupid thing. These cars are c**p. It’s a shame too.. They’re nice and get 35+mpg, but they just were made so crappy.

Fix one leak in the Cruze cooling system and another shows up. Who would have thought that all of those plastic connectors in the engine bay would fail? Maybe a company with competent engineers. I'm done with GM. Never again.

My Cruz is a 2014 and I spoke to someone at the help number listed above and she basically started out by saying that there is no such recall, however after pressing the issue of why am I seeing these reviews saying such a recall did happen I was able to get a padded answer, which entailed being told some not understanding explanation that my car vin number does not fall under the recall......Please someone help me understand this since it is a Chevy Cruz yr. 2014 and experiencing the descripted issues.

Evangeline February 8, 2022 It’s unfixable. New part after new part. Never fixed. Had the dealership do the recall 3 years ago and they charged me $300.00 for labor. Recalled parts are the only thing free. Labor costs out your a*s. If they fix a recalled part, you should not to be charged for the labor, I have never paid for labor anytime a recalled part has been fixed on any of my cars. See if you can find the service bulletin they put out on whatever part they fixed, on that it should tell you if they can charge you for it or not.

Everyone with a turbo check out the oil filter housing to see if there is a plastic piece stuck inside preventing oil flow it is the metal line that goes into the oil filter housing and has a large star screw located right behind the heat shield you may have to remove the oil filter housing by removing the manifold/turbo
