Have you been wondering if there are any 2019 Ford Ranger recalls? If so, then you have come to the right place. Ford takes pride in manufacturing quality vehicles; however, issues can and do happen, no matter how thoroughly a model has been tested.

How many recalls have there been for the 2019 Ford Ranger?

As of August 2020, six. These include:

  • Electrical short in climate control replacement blower
  • Malfunctioning tail lights
  • Electrical short in the HVAC blower motor
  • Front passenger seat belt assembled incorrectly
  • Gear shifter does not indicate the Park position correctly
  • Vehicle may shift out of Park without the brake being applied

Thankfully, in this article, we will take an in-depth look at all six of these 2019 Ford Ranger recalls. We’ll cover what the recall is, how it affects the vehicle, which models were affected, what could happen if you ignore it, and what repairs are needed to fix it.

Electrical Short in the HVAC Blower Motor

NHTSA Recall ID: 19V726000

This recall was issued on October 10, 2019. All 2019 Ford Ranger models (17,965) were potentially affected by this recall.

The components noted for this recall are the defroster, defogger, and the HVAC system, which includes the fan/motor. The part used was not built with enough clearance between the electrical terminal and the conductive-base plate slot.

This issue, if not repaired, could result in a resistive electrical short that could cause the blower motor to overheat. Overheating could cause the surrounding parts to weaken, smoke, or potentially cause a fire.

Unfortunately, there are no visible indicators or warnings that indicate a problem.

The fix? The vehicle service department will check the date codes of 190614 (June 14, 2019) through 190922 (September 22, 2019). Vehicles built within this range will have their climate control blower motor replaced.

Driver Checking Car Air Conditioner

The original recall number was 19V-726 for the previously related recall we mentioned above, and unfortunately, the information is the same. However, only 4% (5,384) of all 2019 Ford Ranger models were potentially affected.

This new, related recall was issued on March 9, 2020. The parts noted for this recall are the defroster, defogger, and the HVAC system, which includes the fan/motor. The replacement part used was not built with enough clearance between the electrical terminal and the conductive-base plate slot.

This issue, if not repaired, could result in a resistive electrical short that could cause the blower motor to overheat. Overheating could cause the surrounding parts to weaken, smoke, or potentially cause a fire.

Unfortunately, there are no visible indicators or warnings that suggest a problem.

The service department will check for the suspect blowers that were built with the defective part and the build date codes of 190614 (June 14, 2019) through 190922 (September 22, 2019). If the blower was built between these dates and is found to be defective, the service department will replace it with a new one.

Malfunctioning Tail Lights

NHTSA Recall ID: 19V839000

This recall was issued on November 21, 2019. Only 2% (72,718) of all 2019 Ford Ranger models were affected.

The parts noted for this recall are the exterior tail lights. They may behave erratically, working at random or not at all.

This issue is caused by an inline electrical connector in both of the rear tail light terminals not being aligned or seated correctly. The center-mounted safety light still works as intended. All tail light functions are affected, including the brake light, turn signals, rear position, and the reverse lamp lights.

If not fixed, the malfunctioning tail lights might not provide a warning to other drivers that the vehicle is stopping, backing up, or turning, increasing the chances of an accident.

The driver will notice a problem if the cluster indicators begin rapidly flashing or flashing at random when using the turn signal. There may also be a trailer not connected message, or a parking aid malfunction error message displayed.

The repair for this issue includes replacing the connector terminals; then, the wiring harness terminals will be re-pinned into its new connector.

Front Passenger Seat Belt Assembled Incorrectly

NHTSA Recall ID: 19V518000

Driver Fastening A Seatbelt Closecup

This recall was issued on July 10, 2019. Only 1% (7,579) of the 2019 Ford Ranger SuperCab body-style trucks were potentially affected.

The parts noted for this recall are the right-hand side front seat belt assemblies. This issue was due to those seat belts not being installed correctly, causing them to malfunction.

If ignored, the right-hand seat belt might not hold the occupant in the vehicle during an accident, causing a significant increase in the possibility of an injury.

Unfortunately, there are no indicators or warnings to the passenger that seat belt failure might be possible.

The repair for this issue involves replacing the right front seat belt assembly if necessary.

Gear Shifter Doesn’t Indicate its Position Correctly

NHTSA Recall ID: 19V366

This recall was issued on May 13, 2019. Only 2% (2,534) of all 2019 Ford Ranger models were potentially affected.

The parts noted for this recall are the fasteners that attach the transmission shift cable bracket to the transmission housing.

Some of the affected vehicles have loose or missing fasteners. This can cause the gear shifter to show a Park position even when it is not. This could happen without a warning message or chime occurring to let the driver know the vehicle is not in Park.

If this recall is not fixed, the vehicle could experience unintended movement, potentially causing an accident.

The instrument panel display will show the correct transmission gear, which might not match the actual shifter position because of the mismatch. If this happens, it could result in “shifter mismatch,” “shifter inoperative,” or “no start” symptoms as the only warning.

The fix? The transmission shift cable bracket fasteners will be inspected to see if they were fastened correctly, and if not, they will be secured. Then the gear shifter function will be tested and verified for proper operation.

Vehicle Could Unintentionally Shift out of Park Without the Brake Being Applied

NHTSA Recall ID: 19V071

This recall was issued on February 1, 2019. Only 1% (2,992) of all 2019 Ford Ranger models were potentially affected.

The part noted for this recall is the brake transmission shift interlock override plunger. The issue is that the gear shifter can be moved from the Park position without the key being in the start position and without the driver pressing the brake pedal.

If this recall is not fixed, it could result in unintended vehicle movement while increasing the chances of an accident or injury.

Unfortunately, there are no prior indications or warnings for this issue.
