Well, that’s quite a few different models for you to choose from. But, are these SUVs any good? How is the gas mileage on the Ford SUVs? And what about their safety ratings?

These are things you will need to know before buying anything. And by the end of this article, you will have enough information to make an educated decision about whether a Ford SUV is right for you.

Bronco Sport: $26,660 – $38,160

This SUV is new on the 2021 auto market. Its rugged exterior design matches its off-road adventure capabilities even though it’s built on a crossover SUV platform. The advanced 4WD technology makes outdoor adventures a more rewarding experience with this trail-tested SUV.

Specs:

  • Engine: 1.5L turbocharged 3-cylinder or 2.0L 4-cylinder with 181- 245 horsepower
  • Transmission: 8-speed automatic
  • G.O.A.T. Modes and Trail Control
  • Towing capacity: 2,000 – 2,205 pounds
  • No fuel economy ratings have been released yet

Safety Ratings:

This vehicle has not yet been tested by the NHTSA or IIHS. So we will have to wait a little longer to find out just how safe this SUV is.

Owner/Expert Reviews:

There is only one owner review so far and that consumer gave it a 5-Star rating for comfort, interior design, performance, value for the money, reliability, and exterior styling.

As far as the experts go, there are a few out there attempting to describe this SUV, but they are saying it will be a while before they get unrestricted access to it. So the waiting game continues.

EcoSport: $19,995 – $27,715

Black 2020 Ford EcoSport With White Background

This is a unique little SUV that is pretty good for its price point. And, it is fun to drive and comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also comes with some great features such as heated seats and steering wheel, and it utilizes the space of its small size very well.

  • Engine: 1.0L EcoBoost – 2.0L Ti with 123-166 horsepower
  • Transmission: 6-speed automatic with overdrive
  • Gas mileage: 25-city and 28-highway
  • Seating capacity: five
  • Towing capacity: 1,400 to 2,000 pounds

Safety Ratings:

The 2020 Ford EcoSport received an NHTSA overall 4-Star Safety Rating. The IIHS has not yet tested this SUV.

  • Amazing car with great features
  • Handles very well and turns on a dime
  • Great gas mileage
  • Very nice comfortable car, I love it
  • Even the base model has plenty of bells and whistles

Edge: $31,100 – $43,265

Ford SUV Model: Silver 2020 Edge

This midsize crossover is a roomy SUV with an interior that is normally reserved for luxury vehicles. And, it has plenty of safety and convenience features. If you are looking for a comfortable and quiet ride, this is it and it has plenty of legroom to boot.

  • Twin-scroll 2.0L EcoBoost with 250 horsepower
  • Transmission: 8-speed automatic with overdrive
  • Gas mileage: 21-city and 29-highway
  • Seating capacity: five
  • Towing capacity: 1,500 pounds

Safety Ratings:

The 2020 Ford Edge received an NHTSA 5-Star Safety Rating. It was also an IIHS Top Safety Pick and received the top rating of “Good.” But, it did receive five acceptable and two poor ratings in a few categories as well.

Owner/Expert Reviews:

  • No problems and I love the near luxury-level features
  • Very high tech, it is a “smart” vehicle
  • Great on gas and has good pick-up and speed
  • Roomy interior and sleek exterior
  • Spacious second row and cargo room

Escape: $24,885 – $38,835

The Escape has been completely redesigned for 2020. It is now 200 pounds lighter, has more space in the second row, and it has more cargo room as well. It also comes with lots of driver-assist features, has four engine options, and plenty of tech. And if that weren’t enough, its all-new suspension makes this SUV ride like a dream.

Specs:

  • Engine: 1.5L EcoBoost, 2.0L EcoBoost, 2.5L iVCT Hybrid Plug-in, and a 2.5L iVCT hybrid with 181 horsepower
  • Transmission: 8-speed automatic with overdrive
  • Gas mileage: 27-city and 33-highway (this is for the S Trim)
  • Seating capacity: five
  • Towing capacity: 2,000 pounds

Safety Ratings:

The 2020 Ford Escape received an NHTSA overall 5-Star Safety Rating. It was also an IIHS Top Safety Pick and it received a top rating of “Good.” But, it received three acceptable and two marginal ratings in a few categories.

Owner/Expert Reviews:

  • Uncomfortable seats and other seat issues
  • Engine vibration, humming, and grinding noise
  • Great safety and handling
  • Good gas mileage
  • Many problems and in the shop a lot

Expedition: $49,025 – $78,825

Ford SUV Model: Gray 2020 Expedition

The Ford Expedition and the Ford Expedition Max which is its longer counterpart, are both full-size SUVs with turbocharged engines. They have a spacious interior and cargo area, come with lots of driver-assist features, and the ride and drive quality are exceptional. So this truck-like SUV is definitely something to consider.

  • Engine: 3.5L EcoBoost V6 with 375 horsepower
  • Transmission: 10-speed automatic with overdrive
  • Gas mileage: 17-city and 23-highway
  • Seating capacity: five to eight
  • Towing capacity: 5,900 to 9,300 pounds

Safety Ratings:

The 2020 Ford Expedition received an NHTSA overall 5-Star Safety Rating. It was also an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ (but only on vehicles built after May 2020) and it received a top rating of “Good.” It did receive eight acceptable ratings and one poor rating in a few categories as well.

Owner/Expert Reviews:

  • Best vehicle I have ever driven, highly recommended
  • Plenty of room for kids, pets, and luggage
  • Drives so smooth, I love the backup camera and assistance features
  • No issues, very comfortable, has all the high-tech features
  • I love this car; it drives like a truck but is very comfortable and has all the bells and whistles

Explorer: $32,225 – $54,480

This vehicle is comfortable and very car-like. It comes loaded with safety features, has multiple trim options, and has enough room for just about anything you want to do. And, the newly redesigned Explorer has several engine options including turbocharged and hybrid options.

  • Engine: 2.3L EcoBoost I4 with 285-300 horsepower
  • Transmission: 10-speed automatic with overdrive
  • Gas mileage: 21-city and 28-highway
  • Seating capacity: seven
  • Towing capacity: 5,300 pounds

Safety Ratings:

The 2020 Ford Explorer received an NHTSA overall 5-Star Safety Rating. It was also named anIIHSTop Safety Pick (but only on vehicles built after May 2020) and it received a top rating of “Good.” But, it also received eight acceptable and one poor rating in a few categories as well.

Owner/Expert Reviews:

  • Many complaints about problems
  • Features that were once standard are now only offered as optional add-ons
  • Worst car I ever owned, think twice, junk, headache, do not buy
  • And others say this SUV has exceeded their expectations, drives smoothly, and has plenty of power
  • Comfortable, roomy, family-friendly, and has a beautiful interior

Mustang Mach-E: $42,895 – $49,800

The 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E SUV is not on the market yet, so we will just give you a little teaser. This vehicle is all-electric and has zero emissions. The starting price is $42,895. It also comes with a Federal Tax Credit of $7,500. The Mach-E has a 300-mile range and can get from 0-60 in 3.5 seconds!

This vehicle appears to be amazing and it definitely looks to be worth the wait. It is intelligent, adaptive, and offers a user-friendly experience. You can personalize your driving experience using its new SYNC 4A.

It also comes with the Ford Co-Pilot360, Assist 2.0, and gives you access to the FordPass Charging Network.

The release date is slated for late 2020, and as of this writing, we are still waiting. But, some things are worth the wait! So be patient. This one looks like it’s going to be a game-changer for Ford!
