Love this car! Hrvs are amazing!
I love this car! It is the perfect transition into a bigger SUV. I used to only drive sedans. The hrv has some amazing features, including a right blinker camera, amazing gas mileage, and heated seats! My model also has a sunroof! Even my husband loves to drive this car!

My vehicle is a 2020 Honda hrv and it is the perfect car.
My Honda hr-v is the perfect SUV. It is very reliable and very comfortable. It is not so big that it is overwhelming, but it is not small that it passes as a smaller car. It is very comfortable, and switching from a small civic to an hrv was the best decision I have ever made. The acceleration on the car is perfectly smooth and controlled, and the breaks are very easy to manage and has a level of comfort.

Great subcompact SUV for first time SUV owners.
I am so glad I chose this car! It is a sub-compact SUV with great gas mileage and comfortability. It is spacious enough for small road trips or hauling luggage and other things with an open trunk space, as well as back seats that let down. The air conditioner is a little loud, but not a deal breaker for me. Love the touch screen and apple play, making my music and navigation easily accessible.

2020 hrv city slicker car.
Super comfortable. Spacious yet compact so great for city driving and long hauls. The chairs are very comfortable too. It gets great mileages for a crossover. Apple carplay is a plus too. I wish it had remote start standard on this trim but it is fine.

My vehicle is big but not too big with a decent back seat.
The tires for Honda cars typically do not last long but they drive smooth. The car offers acc, which helps you drive in tight roads. The backup camera works great, and the colors they offer for the cars are beautiful including the interior. I wish the tires lasted longer but it is worth it with how nice they are.

Hrv sport 2020 great van. Economically safe handling great music.
I have not had any problems with the car. It is great on gas mileage smooth riding. All in all a pleasure to drive I would recommend it to anyone esp people who want to save money on a van. The dashboard is easy to read. The sound system is great. It handles beautifully and is fun to drive.

Why the Honda hr-v is the best crossover for your money.
No problems at all, just got this car 2 weeks ago. It is much quieter than my previous fit, there's a lot more storage in it, and the ride is unbelievably comfortable. My partner says it 'eats bumps for breakfast'. Upgrading to a larger vehicle made sense for our family as we may have children in the next few years.

Clean and slick! The is nice on the eyes!
The car is good on gas. It is a medium SUV. Since I am an empty nester. This car is perfect. Love the gas mileage. It has room for 4 passengers easily. There is enough leg room for my son in law. He's 6''2. The price was affordable. I would recommend this car for first time 20 year olds and empty nesters who like travel.

Battery kept dying,even in summer
Honda HRV 2017. If you don’t drive this vehicle daily you will have problems. I only drove it once or twice a week and the battery kept dying, had to boost regularly even in summer. Put it on a computer and could not find problem. There are two red lights that flash in dash constantly. They think this was draining the battery and sine we only drove it occasionally it drained the battery. Finally I had enough and traded after only 17 months for a 2019 Mazda.

Delayed gear changes are the most widespread complaint from 2020 HR-V owners, showing up at around 1,500 miles. There are updates available for the transmission control module, which improves the speed of gear changes. Most dealerships will install these updates for free, while others charge around $100 for the labor.

Brake noise is another problem that is found on some 2020 HR-V models at roughly 10,000 miles. The noise is caused by brake pad wear. Changing out the brake pads costs around $150, while new rotors are $400 if they have been damaged.

There is only one recall on the 2020 Honda HR-V, which is better than other small SUVs from the same year. The recall covers the rearview camera, which will not display an image. Honda will update the software on affected models for free.

What Colors Does the Honda HR-V Come In?

How Comfortable Is the Honda HR-V?

The 2020 Honda HR-V stands out for its comfort, which is a key aspect of its appeal in the compact SUV market. The vehicle’s interior design focuses on maximizing passenger comfort, featuring well-cushioned and supportive seats. These seats are designed to provide ample support, particularly during long drives, reducing the fatigue commonly associated with extended periods of sitting. The front seats offer generous head and legroom, accommodating passengers of various heights comfortably. The rear seats are also noteworthy for their space, especially considering the HR-V’s compact size, offering a comfortable ride for adults and children alike.

In terms of ride quality, the HR-V delivers a smooth and stable experience. Its suspension is tuned to absorb most road imperfections, making for a serene journey even on less-than-ideal road surfaces. The cabin is well-insulated from external noise, which contributes to a peaceful driving environment, allowing for easy conversation and an enjoyable audio experience.

Additionally, the climate control system in the HR-V is effective and easy to use, maintaining a comfortable cabin temperature in various weather conditions. Overall, the 2020 Honda HR-V provides a comfortable and pleasant driving and riding experience, making it a popular choice for both daily commutes and longer journeys.

How Much Storage Space Does the Honda HR-V Have?

The 2020 Honda HR-V is renowned for its versatile and spacious interior, catering to a variety of storage needs. This compact SUV offers an impressive amount of room, considering its size. The total cargo space available is a substantial 58.8 cubic feet when the rear seats are folded down. This expansive area is more than adequate for large items such as bicycles, multiple large suitcases, or even a small piece of furniture. When the rear seats are in use, the cargo space is understandably reduced but remains practical at 24.3 cubic feet. This is enough for daily needs like grocery shopping, carrying several backpacks, or transporting smaller sports equipment.

In addition to the main cargo area, the 2020 HR-V excels in providing numerous small storage solutions within the cabin. These include a sizable glove compartment, door pockets in both the front and rear, and a center console with an armrest that doubles as a storage compartment. Cup holders are conveniently placed for both front and rear passengers. The model also features Honda’s unique ‘Magic Seat’ system in the rear, which allows the seat bottoms to fold up, providing space for taller items in the footwell area behind the front seats.

These various storage options make the HR-V a highly practical vehicle for both everyday use and for longer trips where more space might be required. Its clever design maximizes the available space, offering a level of versatility that is exceptional for a vehicle in its class.

VehicleHistory Image

What Are the Differences Between Years?

The first generation of the Honda HR-V was launched for the 2016 model year as the smallest SUV in Honda’s lineup.

2016: First model year for the Honda HR-V, which is a smaller and sportier version of the Honda CR-V.

2017: Unchanged from the launch last year.

2018: No major updates from 2016.

2019: Refreshed front and rear bumpers, new Sport and Touring models introduced standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Honda Sensing Suite of safety features.

2020: No changes from earlier years.

2021: Tinted rear glass is now standard on the Sport model.

How Does the Honda HR-V Compare to the Competition?

The 2020 Honda HR-V is a very good small SUV, offering excellent reliability ratings paired with a practical cabin, which helps it earn our recommendation for shoppers.

The Honda CR-V is another small SUV which costs around $2,500 more. Passenger room is slightly better in the Honda CR-V, while the Honda HR-V is easier to park in large cities that have small parking spots. We recommend the Honda CR-V, but both are very good and worth test driving to see which you prefer.

The Subaru Crosstrek is a popular competitor, which costs about $1,500 more. Off-road performance is better in the Subaru Crosstrek with its standard all-wheel drive system, while the Honda HR-V offers a smoother ride. We recommend the Honda HR-V since it’s more affordable to own long-term, but both are worth checking out.

Rhonda the Honda 2.0. Why you should get one too.
No problems. This is my 2nd hrv. Love it. Comfortable, easy to handle, great gas mileage, plenty of storage. Love my heated seats, sunroof, keyless, push button start. Perfect for single driver. Road trip worthy vehicle. Most likely will look at another hrv in the future.

Hr-v is a reliable, comfortable, AWD vehicle, lacks interior amenities.
Really love my car and have no complaints about performance or reliably, only thing that could be improved is interior. The center console is small and strangely designed so I cannot fit much of anything in it, and there are no lights in the visor mirrors.

Great car with some minor drawbacks.
Occasionally has issues switching gears. Excellent handling on the road, especially with all wheel drive. The trunk can be somewhat small, especially with the shelf, but the fold-down rear seats help make up for this. I will say that not having the electric seat adjustment or heated seats can be frustrating for someone with back pain.

Lovely car for a small family.
It is a good size for a small family. Good legroom and trunk space. We have enough space for all the stuff that is needed for a new baby. We would recommend to anyone who like the comfort of a SUV but not the bulky size of an SUV. It is still compact and not intrusive of space.

Honda hr-v fantastic, lovable, and functional.
I absolutely love this car. I am currently only leasing it but after by three years is up I plan on fully purchasing it if all goes well. It takes a bit to get up to high speeds on the freeway sometimes but most times it does really good. I love the Bluetooth connection for my phone but the only thing I would want on the car is a GPS system so that I wouldn't have to look at my phone for directions.

Great car. There are some clunky noises once in a while that I may be concerned with. Maybe when the a/c cycles on and/or the transmission shifting. Otherwise, plenty of room. Great mileage. Not too many color choices at the trim level. Overall it is the second I have leased.

Perfect size, functional, and stylish.
The design is very sporty and the size of the car is not too small but not big, perfect size and easy to drive. The cushion is bit hard, harder than CR-V. The interior design is good and very spacy. I was able to put the very tall interior plant standing inside, which is rare. It has everything I need, the touch screen, rear camera, side camera, break hold... I really enjoy that it is big enough for a few people to fit comfortably but that it is also not too big because it is just me and my boyfriend so we do not need lots of space. Style, look, feel, comfort and safety all contribute to making it a very reliable compact SUV. I highly recommend this vehicle, especially as a step up from a 4 door sedan. I have had a Honda CR-V in the past, but no longer need a vehicle of that size and extra room and higher cost too.

Honda hr-v: reliable, adjustable, comfortable.
My vehicle is very comfortable and reliable. The back seats go down to make a very large trunk space if needed. The locking mechanism is weird. When you push the button on the door sometimes it locks, sometimes it does not. The lights also do not flash when you lock it, only when you unlock it. Pleased with hrv, great car for our family.
The 2020 Honda hrv is definitely an improvement over earlier models. It is a bit smoother of a ride (although not quite as smooth as a CR-V), and it still gets decent gas mileage for a car of its size. It handles well in the snow, and offers the feel of an SUV while still being a compact enough size to fit into tighter driveways or parking spaces.

Good gas mileage, great for road trips through different terrains.
Performance is great in the snow. Comfort is normal, the car may be too compact for a taller individual to sit in the back seat. Truck space is great. I love the android auto feature to connect the car to my google maps. Sound system is great in both back and front. Backup camera and lane control are nice safety features.

Love my reliable, easy to drive Honda hrv.
My Honda hrv is extremely reliable, comfortable, and easy to drive in any weather condition. It has great visibility and gets great gas mileage. We have taken it on multiple road trips already and it does so well. I love the economic gas-saving option. I am on my second hrv lease and love it.

Great small SUV, has a lot of space while not being too big.
The car is very nice on the inside. It drives really smoothly. The eco mode saves a lot of gas, my only suggestion is that if you wish to accelerate faster to turn it off. I have not had the car long enough to have any problems but Honda’s are typically very reliable. The apple car play feature and back up camera convinced me to move up in trim compared to the lx.

The s position while driving turns my car into like a standard.
I just got the new 2020 Honda hrv sport and I love it! The vehicle is smooth on the road an so quiet too! I love the eco friendliness of my vehicle as well as the gas mileage. It also is android friendly an I can connect my phone to Bluetooth or Wi-Fi (hotspot) and use the GPS on the screen provided in the vehicle as well as other apps like music or video ect. I am very happy with my vehicle choice!

The 2020 Honda hrv is the car I chose this time.
I have only owned it for a little while. I cannot say much about it yet. It performs well so far. And the seats are a lot more comfortable than my old car. Hondas have always been reliable which is why I went with this one. I wanted something with the fewest bells and whistles that does ok in the snow.

Smoothest drive you'll ever have.
The only problem was that my car came with the tire pressure light on. It is an easy fix though. Super fun to drive I feel so safe driving this car. There’s so much more room than expected and I am so happy with my purchase. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a car that they can rely on.

Great practical car! Highly recommend!
No problems! I love this car. Great reliability and super practical buy. Enough room for me, my dogs and my friends. Only wish it had motion sensors on the sides. Only wish I had invested in an ex for the upgraded features. May upgrade in the future.

Great compact SUV for the city with tons of storage.
The car is very comfortable. For a compact SUV it had a ton of storage abilities. It can fit two bikes in the back seats along it is awesome! The sunroof and premium leather seats are awesome. I also love apple's CarPlay it is perfect for connecting my phone.
