That’s definitely not all either. The 2007 Acura TL Type-S offers so much more, and we’re here to tell you all about it. By the end of this article, you’ll be certain whether or not this car is the right one for you.
All about the Acura TL
Acura designed the TL as a modern replacement for the outdated Vigor, releasing its newly redesigned luxury sedan in 1995. The TL stood for Touring Luxury, and Acura kept that designation as the focus through every model year.
The first generation came with the Vigor’s 2.5L five-cylinder engine. To appease those who wanted more power out of the gate, they offered the 3.2L TL with a 200-horsepower V6. Across both trims, they focused on balancing power and luxury, ensuring that drivers and passengers could enjoy a sporty, yet comfortable ride.
As the second generation rolled out in 1998, the TL was coming into its own. They put it on the Honda Accord chassis instead of the Vigor’s and bumped up the horsepower to account for the extra weight. In 2002, Acura gave the TL a facelift and created the beloved Type-S trim level to increase its speed and poise. Even more horsepower, bigger wheels, and a firmer suspension made it a truly formidable machine.
The third generation was soon to follow, landing on showroom floors in 2004. The Type-S was notably absent until 2007 when it made its big comeback.
Upping the Ante With the Type-S
To kick off the 2007 model year, Acura yet against revised the appearance of the TL and upgraded its interior with new gauges and a sportier steering wheel. They also revamped the suspension to keep the ride feeling luxurious without compromising its excellent handling.
The biggest improvements to the design came with the Type-S trim that was rolled out that same year. With that trim, you get a 3.5L V6 that makes an incredible 286 horsepower, more than enough to ferry you around town in style.
To put that power to the ground, you could opt for a five-speed automatic with paddle shifters or go all out with the six-speed manual. If you went with the popular choice, the manual, of course, it also came with a limited-slip differential.
The exterior received a full redesign with:
- All new front fascia
- Redesigned taillights
- 10-spoke rims
- Quad exit tailpipes
- Black chrome grille
They upgraded the interior design as well with two-tone seats, metal pedals, and carbon fiber accents throughout. They also switched from the blue cabin lighting to red plus added the touchscreen navigation system to the dash.
