Are you looking for a comfortable midsize car that has character? A vehicle that doesn’t sacrifice style for practicality? You should consider the 2008 Pontiac G6 GT. It’s offered as a coupe, convertible, and a four-door sedan. The wedge shape and wraparound headlights give it a unique style.

What are the features of the 2008 Pontiac G6 GT trim?

The standard engine for the trim is a 3.5L V6 engine with 219 horsepower. It gets 17 mpg in the city and 26 on the highway. It’s front-wheel drive and has a 4-speed automatic transmission.

The G6 was only produced for five years, so there aren’t many of them on the road. If you own one, you will stand out from the crowd. We’ll look at the vehicle itself and the GT trim, so you can decide if it’s the vehicle for you.

The 2008 Pontiac G6

The G6 offers four trim levels and three body styles. The two lowest trims, Value Leader and Base, are only available as a four-door sedan. The GT is the mid-level trim. It is offered as a sedan, coupe, or convertible. The GXP is offered as a sedan or a coupe.

The Value Leader and Base trims have a 2.4 liter with 164 horsepower. The GT has a 3.5 liter with 219 horsepower, and the GXP has a 3.6 liter with 252 horsepower. It also replaces the 4-speed automatic transmission found on the other trims with a six-speed automatic.

The sedan received a four-star NHTSA rating for passenger frontal crash and rollover and five stars in all other categories. IIHS rates it as good or acceptable for front and side crashes, but marginal for head restraints.

The coupe model is rated by the NHTSA as five stars in every category but passenger frontal crash. It gets a four-star rating in this category.

NHTSA didn’t rate the convertible, but IIHS did. IIHS rates it as acceptable for frontal crash, and marginal for side crash and head restraints.

2008 Pontiac G6 GT Trim

The G6 is a sporty vehicle, but don’t expect to set records at the track or the pump. The 3.5L engine provides 219 horsepower.

It reaches 0-60 in 7.9 seconds and has a quarter-mile time of 16 seconds reaching 86 mph. It gets 17 mpg in the city, and 26 mpg on the highway.

It’s front-wheel drive, and the four-speed automatic transmission is smooth and responsive. You can also shift gears manually with the paddle shifter.

The suspension features sport-tuned dampers and springs. It has struts in the front and an independent four-link rear suspension. The anti-roll bars are upgraded from those in the lower trims.

It’s not as stiff as most sport suspensions. This can make it feel floaty at higher speeds, but it provides an exceptionally smooth ride. The wheels are upgraded from 16 inches to 17 inches. It also has larger brake rotors for better braking.

All three body styles have 42 inches of legroom in the front. The convertible has the smallest amount of rear legroom, at 34 inches. The coupe has 35, and the sedan has 37 inches.

Cargo space is limited. The coupe and convertible have 12 cubic feet of trunk space. When the convertible top is down, this shrinks to 2 cubic feet. The sedan offers a little more space at 14 cubic feet.

The GT’s technology features include Onstar Safe and Sound, an FM/AM/ Satellite radio with CD player, and a Monsoon 8-speaker sound system. Power remote start and power-adjustable pedals are also standard. The front windows are power, but the rear windows are not.

Considering Purchasing a Pontiac G6?

The G6 has a unique look and plenty of value. It doesn’t quite match competitors in terms of performance and features, but it stands out from the crowd. It’s also enjoyable to drive.

Before you make a final decision, you should check out Vehicle History. You’ll find owner and expert reviews, as well as a full list of specs. You can also perform a VIN search to learn the history of your vehicle before you drive it home.
