If you own a 2010 Honda Accord and would like to perform your own oil change, you will first need to know the oil type and capacity requirements for your vehicle.

In this article, we will cover this information so that you are able to change the oil in your 2010 Accord without issue.

What type of oil does the 2010 Honda Accord use and what is its capacity?

For 2010 Honda Accord models that come equipped with a four-cylinder engine, 4.2 quarts of SAE 5W-20 oil are required. For models that come equipped with a six-cylinder engine, 4.5 quarts of SAE 5W-20 oil are required.

How to Change the Oil in a 2010 Honda Accord

To change the oil in your 2010 Honda Accord, follow these steps:

  1. Open the car’s hood and lift it up on a jack so that you are able to safely access its undercarriage.
  2. Locate the oil drain plug on the oil pan underneath the car and place a bucket or pan underneath it to collect the old oil.
  3. Use a socket wrench to remove the oil drain plug and allow all of the oil to drain from the pan.
  4. Locate the oil filter and turn it counterclockwise to remove it. More oil will drain once this filter is removed, so be sure to leave your collector in place.
  5. Lubricate the O-ring on your new filter with a little oil then screw it into place by hand.
  6. Replace the oil drain plug.
  7. Locate the oil cap at the top of the engine assembly underneath your car’s hood and remove it. Place a funnel into the hole and pour in your new motor oil, making sure to use the right type and amount for your 2010 Accord’s engine.
  8. Replace the oil cap the check your dipstick to make sure that your levels are normal.
