2013 Ford Escape’s Four Trims Offer 2.0L EcoBoost Engine Option, Leather Seats, and Exclusive Luxury Add-on Packages

The 2013 Ford Escape’s trim levels start with the base S and its standard 2.5L inline-four engine, and ends with the luxurious Titanium trim that gets up to 240 horsepower with its 2.0L EcoBoost. The SE’s keyless entry, and SEL’s massive infotainment screen provide decent tech features.

Key Points

  • The 2013 Ford Escape S is the standard trim level and is powered by a 2.5L inline-four engine capable of 168 horsepower. Pricing starts around $7,500, per Kelley Blue Book’s January 2022 figures.
  • For as little as a few hundred dollars more, used examples in SE trim can be found, which offer added engine options, like the 1.6L EcoBoost, as well as premium seats and keyless entry.
  • SEL models get a massive eight-inch infotainment screen, nine speakers, and 18-inch wheels. Expect to spend roughly $1,500 to $2,000 more for an SEL over an SE.
  • Titanium Escapes comes standard with the 2.0L EcoBoost, a 240-hp engine that delivers solid performance. Leather seating is standard, but the most advanced tech comes in optional add-on packages.

2013 Ford Escape S Trim is a Practical Option with Automatic Door Locks and Keyless Entry, but Otherwise, it’s Nothing Special, Starts Around $7,500

The base trim for the 2013 Ford Escape is known simply as the S. It’s as barebones you can get with a compact crossover. Power under the hood comes from a 2.5L inline-four with 168 horsepower and 170 lb.-ft. of torque, all of it reaching the front pair of 17-inch steel wheels via a six-speed automatic.

The performance may not be there, but air conditioning is standard, along with a full suite of airbags. Tire pressure monitoring, disc brakes all around, AM/FM/CD/MP3 stereo system with six speakers, cloth seats, and automatic door locks with keyless entry also come standard on the S trim level.

The only significant upgrade is the $258 Sync with MyFord Touch infotainment system. And befitting of its status, a 2013 Ford Escape S with 110,911 miles can be had for anywhere between $7,556 and $9,899, per Kelley Blue Book’s Fair Market Range.

2013 Ford Escape SE Includes Two Optional EcoBoost Engine Upgrades, Offers Up to 33 mpg Highway

The next step up along the 2013 Ford Escape ladder is the SE trim level. And what a step it is. This is the trim where the turbocharged EcoBoost engines take over for the 2.5L Duratec naturally aspirated inline-four.

The smaller of the two is the 1.6L turbo-four with 178 horsepower and 184 lb.-ft. of torque. In exchange for the slight bump in performance over the Duratec, a reward of 23 mpg in the city, 33 on the highway is bestowed.

Those who seek even more power, though, can do so by upgrading to the 2.0L turbo-four with 231 horsepower and 270 lb.-ft. of torque. No matter which engine is chosen, the turbocharged units can either send their power through the six-speed auto to the 17-inch alloy wheels.

The SE trim also adds automatic headlights, a 4.2-inch touchscreen, and voice-activated Sync. The Kelley Blue Book Fair Market Range for the trim level with 110,911 miles falls between $7,773 and $10,184.

2013 Ford Escape SEL Stacks up Amenities, Including Eight-inch Touchscreen, Optional Sony Sound System

The optional 18-inch aluminum wheels on the SE trim come standard on the SEL. Engine options remain the pair of EcoBoost turbocharged inline-fours. The biggest upgrade, though, involves the Sync’s home. Instead of a 4.2-inch screen, a generous eight-inch touchscreen unit houses the infotainment system. SiriusXM comes standard on the stereo system, which comes with nine speakers at this trim level.

Occupants can also enjoy leather seating, dual-zone climate control, and heated front seats. The driver receives a leather-wrapped steering wheel with matching leather and chrome shifter knob, plus automatic windows for trips to the drive-thru or toll booth.

Options include a Sony 10-speaker audio system, HD Radio, automatic parking, and hands-free liftgate. A fine example of the 2013 Ford Escape SEL with 110,911 miles can be had for anywhere between $9,451 to $11,767, according to Kelley Blue Book.

2013 Escape Titanium Trim Costs as Much as $13,148 and Features Hands-free Liftgate and 19-inch Painted Aluminum Wheels

The final trim level for the 2013 Ford Escape is the Titanium. For consumers seeking the best example of the compact crossover, the Titanium is it. Here, there’s only the 2.0L EcoBoost turbo-four to drive the front or all wheels.

However, it gets a bump in horsepower, to the tune of 240 horses; torque remains the same at 270 lb.-ft. The wheels are now 19-inch painted aluminum units. Also unique to the Titanium, the hands-free liftgate can be activated simply by waving your foot below the rear bumper of the SUV.

Inside, the 10-speaker Sony AM/FM/CD/MP3 stereo system with HD Radio that was optional on the SEL is standard on the Titanium. The front buckets are trimmed in leather and come with heating for those cold winter days. Xenon headlights brighten the darkness, while the panoramic sunroof welcomes views of the sky any time of day or night.

The only options at this point include the Parking Technology Package (with rain-sensing wipers), the Smokers Package, and the Class II Towing Package. A 2013 Ford Escape Titanium on the lot today with 110,911 miles will set consumers back $10,628 to $13,148, per the KBB.

All Four 2013 Ford Escape Trims Have Their Strengths, but Titanium’s Minimal Price Spread is Where the Value’s At

While the base S trim is fine for getting into 2013 Escape, you might as well go for the SE for a few hundred dollars more. At just $3,000 to $3,500 over the S, the number of amenities you get makes in a Titanium, though, a no-brainer, especially the available EcoBoost engines. The Titanium is also the only model to get the foot-activated hands-free liftgate, which is great for running errands when your hands are full.

Would buy again and again - 2013 escape sel
My sel is amazing. It drives smoothly, gets great gas mileage, and is incredibly comfortable. Heated leather seats, sync voice activated features and a back-up camera are wonderful additions that really make this car great. Sometimes the sync Bluetooth feature does not pick up my voice correctly, or at all. For instance, when the defrost is on or the ac fan is up a bit, it is unable to hear me at all. I have to turn off the fan in order for it to pick up what I have said. The automated foot gate feature is useless 4 out of 5 times also. It always seems to work fine when I do not need it to, but when I have my hands full and need to use it is when it never wants to cooperate. Although there are a few minor issues with this model, they are all add-ons and not necessary to make up a safe, reliable, and comfortable car. Overall I am in love with my Escape and would buy it again and again.

2013 silver ford escape s model.
I have owned this car for almost two years, and I love it! I have had no mechanical issues, and do my best to complete routine maintenance on it. My particular escape is silver with black interior. The black interior gives it a sleek professional look. Additionally, the bucket seats are a nice touch and an added layer of comfort. The second row is very roomy. I have driven it 9 hours with 3 people in the second row and no one complained or seemed cramped. The hatch/trunk area has plenty of storage room, as I have been able to fit luggage for 6 people in the back. My favorite feature of the car, however, is the blind spot mirrors. In the future, I will not buy a car without them. I love my ford escape, and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable vehicle.

Every car has pros and cons. I love my 2013 escape titanium model
I love all the features of my titanium model. The sunroof extending to the back is constantly open adding lots of light. I have had some front end boggling issue for a little while. It is great on gas- currently getting 26. 3mpg which is great in my opinion for an SUV. The trunk space is not as much as my old rav4 had but it gets the job done. My passenger window control from driver side switch recently stopped working. Only negative would be it is hard to work on if you work on your own vehicles. Everything under the hood is hard to access. Including my battery which normally is a 15 min job- was a 2 hour job the other day. Love the wipers they are large and automatic so I never have to touch them based on how hard it is raining.

From city driving to rough terrain of mountains, I couldn't ask for a better car
The Ford Escape SEL is a great vehicle for easy transportation of people and their belongings with comfort and style. The design makes sense and is easy to understand while in the car driving. I never feel like I have to look down at my dash or my radio for more than a few seconds to get the information that I need. Having the heated seats and lots of space for people in the back seats has made this car very easy and enjoyable to own.

2013 Ford Escape Titanium Rave Review
I love my Ford Escape. My Ford Escape Titanium is very spacious in the front seat as well as the back seat. My trunk/cargo area is also very spacious. This car is a very good travel car and extremely comfortable. The only complaint that I may have is the fact that sometimes the car radio likes to restart... Freeze...or not like to connect to the Bluetooth, and I have seen this in other FORD Models.

2013 ford escape: titanium edition.
I truly enjoy my car. It is the first SUV sized car that I have had and it's perfect. It's not too large but big enough that myself and my 2 year old both fit comfortably. I also really like the ability to set my seat position references. This makes it so easy to get my seat back to just the right spot after someone else drives my car. It's a very smooth ride that has given me zero issues.

2013 ford escape titanium.
I think the car is very comfortable for myself. I really like the keyless start and not needing a key to unlock the doors. I also like that it beeps when something is behind me when I am backing up. I also like how it connects to my cell phone. I can just tell it to call someone or change the radio or heat. It is very convenient. I would definitely recommend this car to others.

Silver 2013 Ford Escape SE
The size is great and it drives smooth. The touch screen radio is perfect. The air conditioning does not blow out sometimes, it's like it just circulates in the dashboard. It cuts off frequently and we cannot pinpoint the problem. The transmission failed at 130,000 miles. This was my dream car since they changed the body style in 2013 and it has been very disappointing.

Features of the 2013 ford escape.
My titanium ford escape gives me pleasure with the heating and air conditioning system, heated seats, console, Bluetooth phone connection, hatch push button opener and closure and the cargo area. The foot assist opener for the hatch when hands are full is great. I really enjoy the built in GPS system. I enjoy the leather seats.

2013 ford escape sel review.
Good reliable car with minimal problems. Have had little maintenance work that has needed to be done in the last 6 years of owning vehicle. Purchased used and has held up quite nicely for the amount driven. Gets adequate mileage. Bluetooth is sometime finicky, but can be easily fixed by turning on and off the car.

My brown 2013 ford escape sel.
Currently my radio is not working and that inhibits the sensors in the back to not notify me that I am close to hitting something in the back. I also have difficulty with the engine at times where it feels like riding over rumble strips. The overall reliability of the car is great and I have great gas mileage.

2013 ford escape se review.
I really like the car itself. Quiet reliable, easy to maneuver, dependable. The only problem is that the stereo sometimes gives me problems. It will randomly shut down at some points and does not always have a rhyme or reason. Other than that, the car is enjoyable to drive and a great vehicle.

Pros & cons of 2013 ford escape se.
My vehicle drives smooth. The only bad part about the vehicle is that it takes off rough, when you accelerate. But for the price and convenience of this SUV, it is not a bad car. It has a lot of room in the front as well as the back of vehicle. The seats are somewhat comfortable.

Interesting features for the ford escape sel 2013.
The best things about my car is the luxury features. I have a moonroof, heated seats, Sony speakers, and automatic push button start. It is also pretty dependable. The one concern I have had thus far is the frequent car battery replacement. Other than that the car works great.

2013 Escape S is the perfect family car.
The Escape is the perfect vehicle size. It is feels like an SUV and has decent space inside but you don't feel like you are driving a tank. I have the lowest trim level so there are some amenities I'd enjoy such as fog lights which are not available on this trim level.

2013 Silver Ford Escape SEL
We have had engine problems and problems with the turbo. The turbo has been replaced two times and the engine had to be rebuilt after a lot of other work. I do like the space the vehicle has and it is nice to drive with plenty of space for the family and items to haul

Ford escape 2013 sel. Awesome.
The car gets pretty good gas mileage. I love the way it drives. The sync radio is the bomb. The trunk is huge! The back seat has plenty of space. It is a great car! I have not had any mechanical issues. The back seat has plenty of room for my children.

2013 ford escape sel and double sunroof.
Double sunroof, heated seats, good highway mileage, sound system sounds amazing, backup camera, blind spot on mirrors. Turns really well and the truck has enough space for two wide yeti coolers, and brights are very bright, Bluetooth connection.

2013 Ford escape sel, the all around family leisure vehicle.
We bought this vehicle used. It gets very good gas mileage. Has a beautiful leather interior, heated seats, panoramic sunroof, on board navigation, satellite radio. It handles like a dream. The acceleration is very good for a SUV!

Comfortable and economical
I love the extras the Titanium model offers. Its is comfortable to drive and handles well in snow. My only complaint is how hard it can be to get the navigation to understand where you want directions to especially rural areas.
