For 2015, Ford offered the F-150 in five trim levels, each with different features, a slightly different exterior, and various engine options. Take a closer look at the 2015 Ford F-150 Lariat, the entry-level luxury trim that won’t break the bank.

F-150 Lariat Specs and Top Features

The F-150 Lariat is the middle ground in the lineup for this model year. The XL and XLT are two of the base models. The Lariat adds a lot more sophistication and more tech to these vehicles, providing passenger truck owners with more of the high-end amenities they desire. The King Ranch and Platinum models are even more luxurious. Here are some of the key specs available in the Ford F-150 Lariat for the 2015 model year.

Take a Look at the Engine

The F-150 Lariat features a rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive setup. This allows the vehicle to be more off-road and harder working when it comes to less-than-ideal conditions. Two engine options are available for this model. The first is a 2.7 L V6 EcoBoost. The second option is a 3.5 L V6 EcoBoost.

Both engine options provide clear performance and more efficient functionality that many of today’s vehicle owners are seeking out on a routine basis. The 2.7 L engine produces 325 horsepower with 375 ft/lbs. of torque. The 3.5 L engine ups that to 385 horsepower and 420 ft/lbs. of torque. The vehicle also features a six-speed automatic transmission with OD.

The vehicle requires gas fuel but does offer Flex Fuel capability. For those who want to choose a more environmentally friendly truck, this is an important investment. When it comes to gas mileage, the U.S. Department of Energy notes the vehicle’s 2.7 L engine gets a combined 22 city/highway. That includes 19 mpg city and 26 mpg highway. The 3.5 L engine gets a combined city/highway of 20 mpg with 17 mpg city and 24 mpg highway.

For those contemplating this truck for a workhorse or for daily use, consider a few of the key specs related to it.

  • Seating: Ample room for five to six people
  • Towing Capacity: Depending on the engine model, can tow 7600 to 9000 pounds
  • Cargo Capacity: Either 52.8 cu. ft. or 77.4 cu. ft. bed available (depending on cabin size)
  • Front Head Room: 40.8 inches
  • Wheelbase: 145 inches to 163 inches
  • Length: 231.9 inches to 250.5 inches
  • Height: 75.2 inches to 76.9 inches

The F-150 Lariat weight up to 7050 pounds and has a payload capacity of up to 2070 pounds.

Exterior Features of the Ford F-150 Lariat for 2015

The F-150 has a very distinctive look, with powerful lines and a dominating appearance. The 2015 F-150 Lariat takes this to the next level by creating a professional, clean, and sophisticated look throughout the interior and exterior. On the outside, this full-size pickup has much to offer. That includes a strong profile.

The vehicle comes with 18-inch machined-aluminum tires with included silver painted pockets for a bit more design sophistication. It also comes with a steel spare wheel with a full-size spare tire stored in the underbody with a crank down for easy access. That’s crucial — other truck models often lack the full-size spare.

The side mirrors match the body color. These are heated mirrors with auto-dimming on the driver’s side and a convex spotter. They are power-folding and have a turn-signal indicator — one of the key upgrades that you will get from the Ford F-150 XLT model.

The truck offers an optional chrome front bumper with a colored rub strip and fascia accent, or you can choose to add two tow hooks here. The grille is chrome. The vehicle also features both wheel-well trim and door handles that are the same color as the body.

The windows all feature black side trim and a deep-tinted glass for added privacy. Power rear window defroster is provided standard, as are variable intermittent wipers.

To keep you safe on the road, the Ford F-150 Lariat also features fully automatic aero-composite halogen daytime running headlamps and perimeter and approach lights. Front fog lamps are in place for those darker and stormy nights. The entire setup looks sleek but is also designed to be highly automated for easy use.

Along the back is the rear cargo access at the tailgate. This includes power door locks. There’s also a cargo lamp with a high-mount stop light, a chrome rear-step bumper, and optional reverse-opening rear doors — for when you really don’t want to have to get out to do the work yourself.

The Ford F-150 Lariat Interior Features for 2015

One of the most notable features of this trim model is that it is a significant step up from the Ford F-150 XL model. While some of the features are not as high-end as the Ford F-150 King Ranch or the F-150 Platinum, it has all of the features that more of today’s tech-demanding drivers want. It also comes with ample comfort for on-the-road luxury.

Sitting down into this vehicle, drivers enjoy leather-trimmed seats with four-way adjustable driver and passenger headrests. Both the driver and passenger enjoy a 10-way power heated and cooled setup, while the driver’s side also has memory features. That means you can sit down and the vehicle automatically adjusts to fit your needs — a nice feature for most drivers.

In addition, a 60-40 folding split-bench is in the back with a front-facing fold-up cushion for added comfort. There’s a good amount of legroom present, which is great for those who want to spread out.

The included trim offers a simulated wood and metal look for the instrument panel and door panel insert. There are chrome accents throughout the interior as well. The instrument panel features everything needed, including such key features as the engine coolant temp, transmission fluid temp, and voltmeter. These are the same across each of the Ford F-150 models for 2015. There is an outside temperature gauge for easy reference.

The F-150 also features a ton of different storage cubbies, including one in the dashboard area (both driver and passenger side) and rear-door bins, as well as both first and second-row under-seat storage. There are two seatback pockets, a front center armrest with storage in it (this is an optional upgrade), and an optional rear center armrest with storage.

The interior is roomy and feels open. The Lariat features carpet floor covering in both the front and back. Cargo box lights provide ample lighting, with optional front and rear map lights also available.

As expected on this model, the truck features power windows and doors, a perimeter alarm, and power-adjustable pedals. Also nice is the proximity key for doors and the push-button start, both of which are part of the enhanced tech in this truck. There is also remote keyless entry with an integrated key transmitter. The vehicle has a voice-activated dual-zone air conditioning system as well.

Comfort is an exceptional feature here.

Entertainment Features in the F-150 Lariat

The interior of the Lariat is comfortable enough for long rides. The entertainment options here are also pretty good. The vehicle comes with a standard single CD player with SiriusXM Satellite available.

There are a total of seven speakers throughout the interior cabin.

The vehicle also features SYNC with MyFord Touch. This is an enhanced feature that is available as standard on the Lariat. It is an in-vehicle connectivity system that allows you to control various features with your voice.

This includes an 8-inch center-stack touchscreen system with audio control and bypass. Users can also charge their smartphones and other devices using the two included USB ports.

Modern, Enhanced Safety Features to Rely on

Another key reason to upgrade to the Ford F-150 Lariat is the enhanced driver-safety features. This is one area that Ford has superseded other manufacturers, and the 2015 lineup offers many of the most modern updates. This includes features such as the Electronic Stability Control and Roll Stability Control to minimize the risk of rollovers, even on off-road trips.

The truck also offers an ABS and driveline traction control system, tire sensors to monitor for drops in pressure, and the MyKey System. This system provides for sounds to warn of concerns that users can set. This includes a top speed limiter and programmable sound chimes to remind drivers. There is a backup camera onboard the vehicle. Rear child-safety locks can be added as well.

The vehicle is equipped with dual-stage driver and passenger airbags in the front. It also offers a safety canopy system curtain in the first and second-row for added protection.

Equipment Options Available for the F-150 Lariat

A few options are available for upgrading and modernizing the Lariat to fit specific needs. The 2015 lineup included additional equipment options, such as:

  • Fx4, the company’s off-road package
  • The 2.7 L V6 EcoBoost Payload Package
  • The Technology Package, which includes a 360 camera with a split-view display, lane-keeping system, and dynamic hitch assist
  • The Trailer Tow Package, which offers an auxiliary transmission oil cooler and a front stabilizer bar
  • The Max Trailer Tow Package, which includes an upgraded rear bumper, an integrated trailer brake controller, an electronic locking feature with 3.55 axle ratio, and an auxiliary transmission oil cooler

Drivers can also upgrade to the Lariat Sport package, which includes a more playful design on the exterior. The Lariat Chrome Appearance Package adds more chrome features (and less color-matching) than other models.

How Much Does the 2015 Ford F-150 Lariat Cost?

There are a lot of variables to consider about this vehicle to ensure you are getting just what you need.

The Lariat’s price point ranges from $19,900 up to $25,150 as a used vehicle. The Lariat with the Payload Package elevates this cost to between $39,000 and $46,000 in current pricing points.

A good-looking and powerful vehicle, the 2015 Lariat has much to offer today’s buyer. A range of options are on the market in terms of trim packages for the F-150, but this one tends to be highly desirable. It offers a good mix of features and tech without driving the cost too high.

Reviews of the 2015 Ford F-150 Lariat

5-Star Review

Cindy J. writes, “The F-150 Lariat is a comfortable car. I haven’t had any problems with it and I’ve owned it for four years. The backseat is nice and roomy, which is good for growing kids. It also has the right tech without being too expensive. I find that the display is bright and I do invest in the Sync features to give me that extra help on the road.”

4-star Review

Jameson S. writes, “I bought the F-150 Lariat 2015 model a year ago. It was used with about 76,000 miles on it. I have to say, it is a pretty easy drive even after these miles. I have had to make a few upgrades including to the normal brakes and tires, but this truck is able to pull my trailer with ease.

Definitely an excellent choice for what I paid for it. Probably going to last me another five years since it is so well designed. Glad I purchased it.”

5-star Review

Elly B. writes, “I love taking this truck out for a long day on the road. Super comfortable. Only had to do oil changes and tires over the last three years.”
