Offered in three trim levels with one engine across the range, and available with 2WD and AWD, the 2015 Nissan Rogue has a variant to suit almost all tastes and budgets. However, many of the features you may enjoy are optional.
Key Points
- The 2015 Nissan Rogue is offered in three trim levels: S, SV, and SL. All models have a 2.5-liter engine as standard and are available with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
- Several optional add-on packages are available, boasting features such as a third-row seat on S and SV models, and extra safety tech on SV and SL variants.
- The base Rogue S lives up to its basic positioning, rolling on steel wheels, fitted with cloth seats, and only offering a tiny five-inch infotainment screen.
- Mid-level SV models could be had with a larger seven-inch screen, active safety technology, heated seats, and a 360-degree camera, but it all has to be optioned on.
- Range-topping SL models feel the most premium thanks to a full leather interior, and look the best on 18-inch alloy wheels. It offers most features as standard as well.
Entry-level 2015 Nissan Rogue S Trim Delivers the Basic Necessities but not Much More
Whether looking at this base S or the higher SV and SL models, just one engine is available across the 2015 Nissan Rogue range. A 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 170 hp gets paired to a CVT and can be had with front- or all-wheel drive on all variants. This makes it easier to compare and contrast what equipment is included with each trim level, as that’s the only difference between them.
In the case of the entry-level 2015 Rogue S, while it won’t feel entirely sparse inside, it’s hardly brimming with luxuries. This is something that can be seen right from the outset as it sits on 17-inch steel wheels with plastic covers, which are clad in all-season tires with a tall sidewall – good for ride quality. At least LED daytime running lights are standard to lift the exterior looks.
Inside, it’s fitted with a basic five-inch infotainment display with Bluetooth and a backup camera. New for 2015 was the inclusion of SiriusXM satellite radio and NissanConnect smartphone connectivity on the base model. While it also has a tire pressure monitoring system and keyless entry, it’s otherwise a bit sparse on technology, still having only manual climate controls and a four-speaker stereo.
It doesn’t lack practicality, though, fitted with Nissan’s clever EZ-Flex second-row seating system that allows split-folding, sliding, and reclining. It also has the Divide-N-Hide cargo system. Optioning the Family Package also adds a third-row seat, two additional bottle holders, rear privacy glass, and run-flat low rolling resistance tires in place of the standard all-terrains. A splash of color could also be had with an Almond cloth interior available in addition to Charcoal cloth. At the time of publication, Kelley Blue Book suggests an average fair purchase price of $14,722 for the 2015 Rogue S.
Mid-tier 2015 Nissan Rogue SV Offers All the Tech You’d Want, but Only with the Right Options Selected
Not only did the 2015 Nissan Rogue SV step it up visually over the Rogue S, thanks to 17-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, and standard privacy glass, but it could be had with far more interior equipment as well.
Standard, it still features Almond or Charcoal cloth seats, and a five-inch infotainment display with rearview camera. However, automatic dual-zone climate control, an Intelligent Key with push-button start, a six-way powered driver’s seat, and automatic headlights are also added as standard features.
Available options packages are where the SV really shines, though. In addition to the Family Package to add a third-row seat, a SV Premium Package is also offered, adding a seven-inch touchscreen with satellite navigation and SiriusXM Traffic, a 360-degree camera, heated front seats, heated side mirrors, blind-spot, and lane departure warning, moving object detection, and a power tailgate.
Also optional, a panoramic moonroof, auto-dimming rear-view mirror with HomeLink, blind zone side mirrors, and fog lights. On average, expect to pay around $16,263 for a 2015 Rogue SV assuming the price is fair.
Top-spec 2015 Nissan Rogue SL Boasts Luxurious Leather Upholstery, Yet Active Safety Tech Remains Optional
Sitting at the top of the 2015 Nissan Rogue Range was the SL. Riding on 18-inch wheels wrapped in all-season low rolling resistance tires, it certainly looked the best out of all variants. Heated side mirrors and a power tailgate were also now standard.
Once again, it’s on the inside where the real upgrades are. With heated leather seats (still either Almond or Charcoal), a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, and the larger seven-inch infotainment unit with navigation and 360-degree camera all fitted as standard, it’s easily the most comprehensive of all models in standard form.
Some items are still optional, however, all being bundled into the SL Premium Package. This added LED headlights, a panoramic moonroof, forward collision warning, blind-spot warning, lane departure warning, and moving object detection.
Note that the SL is not available with the optional third-row seat, but the EZ-Flex second-row seat and Divide-N-Hide cargo system are. Kelley Blue Book currently suggests a fair purchase price of $17,154 for the 2015 Rogue SL. At under $900 more than an SV model, it’s a worthwhile upgrade as a used buy.
If Configured Correctly, the 2015 Nissan Rogue can Potentially be an Appealing Used Purchase
If you’re considering a 2015 Nissan Rogue as a used purchase, stretching your budget to snag a top-spec SL model is the way to go. On the used market, it represents the best value given the very minor value increase over a mid-spec SV, especially with the majority of important comfort features all standard. That said, an SV if configured correctly and priced right could still be a worthwhile purchase. The base Rogue S will likely feel too basic and dated for many, though.
