The 2016 Nissan Rogue features three trim levels and the availability of either FWD or AWD. The Rogue was also the only vehicle in its segment offered with an optional third row of seating, making it quite a compelling package.

Key Points

  • The 2016 Nissan Rogue is available with only one engine and transmission choice across its three trim levels.
  • Front-wheel drive is standard across the lineup, but all-wheel drive is optional on all models as well.
  • The S trim serves as the base model. With cloth seats, a four-speaker stereo, and power windows and door locks, the S is about as basic as modern passenger cars get.
  • The SV trim was the volume seller and adds luxuries like automatic climate control, smart key passive entry, and a long list of optional features.
  • Top trim SL model Rogues up the ante for amenities with heated leather seats, Bose audio with eight speakers, and a standard power liftgate.

Rogue S is a Cheap but Competent SUV that Can Accommodate Up to Seven Passengers

With only one engine and transmission offered in all 2016 model year Rogues and all-wheel drive being made available across the lineup, the main differentiator between Rogue trim levels are the creature comforts afforded to the occupants. The base S trim is not barren by any account with features like cruise control, rearview camera, remote keyless entry, and power windows and locks.

However, those features are becoming more common throughout the segment. For unexpected luxury, front passengers are coddled by Nissan’s Zero Gravity designed seats, specially designed to optimize comfort and reduce fatigue.

Other amenities standard on the S trim include:

  • 17-inch steel wheels
  • Front, side, and curtain airbags
  • Tire-pressure monitoring system with Nissan’s Easy Fill Alert
  • Four speaker stereo with five-inch touchscreen and Bluetooth connectivity
  • Steering wheel mounted radio controls and hands-free text messaging assistant

The Rogue S also had the distinction of being one of the cheapest three-row SUVs on the market with its available third row, allowing up to seven total passengers, a segment-exclusive. To find another three-row SUV, shoppers would need to look to the larger mid-size class.

Rogue SV Adds More Standard Features and Offers a Long List of Optional Luxuries Like a Panoramic Sunroof

Rogue SV models were positioned to be the high-volume sellers of the Rogue lineup. With a longer list of standard amenities over the S trim and an even longer list of optional features, the SV could be customized to fit almost any taste.

At an average price increase of only $1,000 over the base S in the used market, the SV looks to be quite the bargain.

Additional standard items on the SV trim include:

  • Six-way power-adjustable driver’s seat
  • 17-inch alloy wheels
  • Nissan’s Intelligent Key passive entry system
  • Dual-zone automatic climate controls
  • One-touch power driver’s window

SV models are the first trim level to offer the option of a panoramic sunroof, power liftgate, and additional safety technology such as blind-spot warnings, all of which could be had with the optional Premium Package for SV models.

The SV is also the last trim offering the optional third-row seat, making it the most feature-laden version of the Rogue for hauling around seven people.

Rogue SL Makes Luxury the Priority with Heated Leather Seats, a Bose Sound System, and a Power Liftgate

The top trim of the Rogue lineup, the SL, was only offered in a two-row configuration, limiting total seating to five. However, what the SL lost in the way of passenger seating was compensated by additional quality for those onboard.

The SL is the only Rogue model to feature leather on the seats or steering wheel. Exterior cues separating the SL from lower trims include heated outside mirrors, fog lights, and optional LED headlights.

Other luxuries included on the SL are:

  • Leather-trimmed heated seats with six-way power front buckets
  • Bose Premium sound system with eight speakers and seven-inch color touchscreen
  • 18-inch aluminum wheels
  • 360-degree bird’s eye view monitor
  • Moving object detection
  • Power liftgate

At just under a $500 average price premium over the SV, the SL makes a compelling option for those looking for a little extra luxury at the expense of total seating capacity.

2016 Nissan Rogue’s SV Trim is the Best Option, Especially with Optional Premium Package

The optional extras and available third row on the SV trim are what make it the one to get. When equipped with the Premium Package, the SV came equipped with a seven-inch infotainment screen, a power liftgate, heated seats, and additional safety tech.

With average pricing for an SV at just over $1,000 more than the base S trim and still available with an optional third row of seating for seven, the 2016 Rogue SV is an easy choice. Don’t forget to opt for the Premium Package for the best experience.

Highly recommend-great features.
I have a 2016 Nissan rogue sv 4wd. It is a four wheel drive vehicle, so it is safer in more difficult weather conditions like snow. It has a push button start, which is really convenient since you do not even have to get your keys out of your purse to start it. If you are unlocking your vehicle from the outside, there's a button on the handle of the driver's door and the front passenger's door, that you can push to unlock as long as you have the key in close range. It has a backup camera with a behind and a looking down from above view. It also has blind spot warning lights. It also has heated seats for when it is cold out. It drives really smooth. It has radio and voice controls on the steering wheel. It has Bluetooth that will pair with your phone to either play music or call to talk to someone on the phone but you can hear/talk through your car radio speakers. You can also see how much air is in your tires through the driver's display window. I would definitely recommend this car. I haven't had any problems with it so far.

Nissan Rogue: All the SUV You Need
This is the base model Rogue. While it is a SUV and does include some bells and whistles, it doesn't have AWD. Some of the features that it includes in Sirius XM radio, Bluetooth connectivity, power windows and power door locks. The interior is cloth. The cloth material is easy to clean, as long as you clean the spills sooner than later. The ride is smooth throughout the city and highway. In city mileage averages around 28MPH. Highway mileage averages around 35MPH. These city and highway miles can vary from driver to driver. Keeping up with the maintenance and oil changes via the maintenance schedule, no issues have been experienced.

Nissan rogue is the new soccer mom car in style.
Nissan rogue sv is amazing on gas. The space looks small but if you fold the seats down you have plenty of space for hauling big items. There is also a floor board trunk that comes up and has space to hide things in. It has the awesome hands free system so you can have GPS, calls, ect without touching your phone. The seats up front have lumbar support that can be adjusted with a button. My back seats are stadium seats. I can see everything my kids do with a glance because the seats are higher than front ones. It's awesome.

Great vehicle for a family!
I have had my 2016 rogue since 2016 and I love it! We got the trim with cloth heated seats and they are amazing. The SUV extremely spacious and perfect for a family. It has GPS, electric trunk (which I love!), rear view camera and whole view camera for around the car, blind spot alert, and all wheel drive. Performance is great and so far I have had no issues with it. The only thing I have had to replace is the battery, which is to be expected.

I love my Nissan rogue sv.
I love my rogue! It is comfortable and it is very smooth to drive. It is a smaller SUV, but surprisingly has a ton of space in the back. The only thing that I wish I had was more features (heated seats, apple carplay, assisted parking) but those are available in the higher trim levels. I got mine used at the lower trim level, and it has all the basics that I need. I'll keep this car for years.

The Rogue is Great, just the drivers seat is a pain!
I bought a used 2016 Nissan Rogue SV and from day 1 the drivers seat made noise..so, I did have a very good 0 deductible warranty took it back to the dealership and they replaced the seat which was 1750.00 and I paid nothing. Now after 4 months, the back of the drivers seat is moving esp. When I stop. I need to take it back again to see what they can do. But overall the Rogue is a great SUV.

Perfect small family car!
We absolutely love our Nissan Rogue SV! It is the perfect size for a family of 4 that is not planning on expanding. It's got cameras in the front, sides, and back, so you can reverse/park without worry. By the mirrors there are also sensor lights to let you know when there is a car in your blind spot, which is perfect for highway driving. Overall, we couldn't be happier.

2016 Nissan rogue sv.
The Nissan rogue 2016 is spacious, and reliable. It is also versatile, comfortable, economical, and good gas mileage. There are no performance or mechanical issues to speak of and it is a safe vehicle. The Nissan rogue also is a low maintenance vehicles. It has affordable insurance options. It also handles roads well. It is equipped with desirable features.

Review of the Nissan rogue sv AWD 2016.
The Nissan rogue is a really good 'family' car, meaning that it is really comfortable, and smooth. One problem is that leg space can get pretty tight if you add the additional seats in the back to seat 7. Otherwise, the sv is really good because the car has cloth seats, which are good if you want to clean the car.

2016 ROGUE SL REVIEW
I love my 2016 Nissan rogue SL. I think it has a good combination between affordability and quality. It has a good gas mileage and I once did as good as 39 mph. It's a v4 so filling the tank isn't much of a hassle $30-35 does it. I also love the interior that is very spacious and comes with leather everything.

Love my Rogue comfortable and stylish.
The Rogue rides really nicely. I got the sl and the seats are incredibly comfortable and nice leather, looks sleek. Plenty of space to pack up the trunk but not an oversized SUV. Only problem is my lift gate for the trunk has stopped working I need to get that looked at. Otherwise this is a great vehicle.

It is an ok car, not sure I would buy again.
Sv trim doesn't come with leather seats, fog lights, sunroof. The car gets pretty decent gas mileage. One thing that I really don't like is where the overdrive button is located on the shift knob. I seem to accidentally press it pretty frequently and makes the engine rev really high while driving.

Panoramic sunroof is a win!
The rogue sv has so many amazing features. My favorite is the panoramic sunroof and the spaciousness of the interior, all while the actual car is nice and compact. The heated seats, back-up camera, 360 degree camera, and Bluetooth capabilities make this care great.

2016 Nissan Rogue sv a snow demon.
The vehicle is very sporty looking. No problems as of yet. Drove for the first time in snow and the handling and AWD was amazing. The back up camera could be a little better since it was a downgrade from my Altima. But overall very please with vehicle overall.

Love my Nissan rogue sv 2016.
I am a recent Nissan rogue owner, and I absolutely love it. It is very comfortable to drive, and has a great range of features that I am enjoying - like Bluetooth, automatic headlights, and keyless entry. It is very easy to drive, and very sporty looking.

2016 Nissan Rogue SL Love all the extras, I purchased as a used car.
Love the extras such the sunroof, 360 cameras, passing indicators, etc. Maintenance is routine. Rides smoothly and gets decent gas mileage. Like the two step option in the truck for hauling stuff. Electric seats with warmers are great on those cold days.

2016 Nissan Rogue SL, Black, loaded with panoramic roof
Love everything about this car. It is well engineered for daily driving and it functions well with my 7 year old. The gas mileage is good considering I did not want to give up an SUV but do a lot of driving ( approx 3000 miles per month)

The level of overall quality of this model.
I like the model and the finishes of the rogue sl. I also like all the technical (safety) features. There are blind spots behind both right and left front windshield pillars.

Nissan Rogue review- pleased.
So far we love it. We chose the highest trim package because of the features. One downfall is it does not have the digital speed.
