Red 2018 Jeep Renegade In Motion

Since first coming onto the market in 2015, the Jeep Renegade has been renowned as a durable and high-quality subcompact SUV that is just at home on the pavement as it is off-road. The 2018 Jeep Renegade is certainly no exception; it’s a highly reviewed SUV with a lot to appreciate, including a roomy cabin, balanced handling, and an upscale interior.

With that said, though, the 2018 Jeep Renegade has seen a couple of recalls since its release that are worth exploring before you purchase this model. At Vehicle History, our mission is to help automotive shoppers all over the country make informed decisions about the used vehicles that they purchase by providing comprehensive research about a vehicle’s history, including recalls that might have been issued on the model, any accidents in which the vehicle might have been involved, repairs it might have had, and much more.

While typing a vehicle’s specific VIN number into a VIN report search tool and downloading an exhaustive vehicle history report is the best way to determine if there might be any unseen issues with a vehicle before you buy it, checking a model’s recalls is also a good place to start. To help you determine if the 2018 Jeep Renegade is a good choice for your next used vehicle, we’ll take a look at the two recalls that have been issued for this model in the past as well as important information to know regarding vehicle recalls.

What Does it Mean for a Vehicle to Be Recalled?

Recalls for a vehicle are issued when the vehicle’s manufacturer or other entity such as the NHTSA discover an issue with the vehicle’s design or construction that compromises its safety. Only issues that warrant safety concerns will lead to a recall on a vehicle. Therefore, a problem such as faulty brakes or an engine that stalls mid-operation would certainly be cause for a safety recall, while problems such as a malfunctioning stereo system or a broken AC system would not.

It is also worth pointing out that recalls do not always affect all vehicles within a specific make, year and model. For instance, a recall issued for a 2015 Ford Explorer might apply only to Explorer models that were manufactured within a specific time frame or at a specific location. If you discover that a recall has been issued for your vehicle, though, it is essential to contact the manufacturer, provide your VIN number, and determine whether or not your vehicle needs to be brought in for repairs.

Since recalls are only issued for problems that affect the safety and functionality of a vehicle, they need to always be addressed as soon as possible. Thankfully, manufacturers will provide repairs free of charge on any vehicle that has been recalled.

2018 Jeep Renegade Recalls

So far, there have been a total of two recalls for the 2018 Jeep Renegade. These recalls include:

NHTSA Recall ID: 18V524000

Recall Date: 08/09/2018 – Affected Component: Electrical System

In 2018, Jeep issued its first recall on the 2018 Jeep Renegade, citing a faulty voltage regulator chip in the vehicle’s powertrain control module that may fail, potentially causing the vehicle to stall while in operation. Since a stalled vehicle is a serious safety concern, Jeep was forced to issue a recall on the model. To resolve this issue, Jeep offered to replace the powertrain control module free of charge on all affected models.

NHTSA Recall ID: 18V731000

Recall Date: 10/27/2018 – Affected Component: Fuel System

In 2018, a second recall for the 2018 Jeep Renegade occurred, and Jeep cited a manufacturing error in the fuel pump assembly as the reason for it. In certain operating conditions, this manufacturing error may cause a loss of fuel pressure in the vehicle, causing the vehicle to stall mid-operation. In order to resolve this issue, Jeep offered to replace the fuel pump free of charge on all affected models.

What to Do if There is a Recall on Your 2018 Jeep Renegade Model

If you own a 2018 Jeep Renegade and are unsure whether the recalls listed above have been addressed, you will want to contact Jeep directly and inquire about your vehicle’s VIN number to see if there are any unrepaired recalls on your model that need to be resolved. Given that recalls are only issued for serious safety concerns, it is essential to have them addressed before you continue to use the vehicle.

Recalls are also an important factor to keep in mind when purchasing a used vehicle. If you are purchasing a 2018 Jeep Renegade from a reputable dealer, then it is likely that any recalls the model might have undergone will have already been resolved, and all necessary repairs will have already been made. Regardless of where you are purchasing your 2018 Jeep Renegade, though, you will want to discuss the issue of recalls with the seller and ensure that the vehicle you are considering is fully functional and safe to drive.

At Vehicle History, we make it incredibly easy to research the entire repair history of a specific vehicle. To learn more about we can help inform your next used vehicle purchase with our exhaustive Vehicle History report, feel free to contact us today.

My keep has ran perfect until 100,000 miles
I have a 2018 Jeep renegade that I bought brand new. I took it to the dealer recently because its stalling out and the trans light and parking break come on when it stalls. Took it to the dealer...they tightened up all the electrical saying if anything is loose and not 100% then it freaks out....yeah...two days later still having the same issue...not resolved. They say it has no recalls.

2018 Jeep Renegade Sport in safety it is good vehicle and in snow it did good for me.
When sold it to me didn't tell me there was already recalls on the renegades. Therefore, when driving home the car just shut off in middle of traffic and would not start back up. Took it in to be fixed, and same day left me sit again. 3 times this happened until it was finally fixed.

My 2018 jeep renegade is comfortable and spacious enough.
Sometimes, the jeep takes a while to speed up and jolts when I try to accelerate. I believe that my car is relatively safe, although, my car had a recall that affected the breaks. The breaks weren't stopping the car the right way.

2018 Jeep Renegade Latitude needs a recall, otherwise a fun ride.
I had to have the engine replaced before it was a year old. It is a known issue with the model but has not been recalled by jeep. The engine loses oil excessively for no known reason and with little or no warning.

2018 Jeep Renegade Latitude: Uconnect makes hands free driving easy and it offers access to music and maps.
My vehicle was recalled three times when I made the purchase for electrical issues. It has since been restored and I haven't had any issues.

2018 Jeep Renegade Sport compact vibe with a large feel.
It shut down randomly and has had some major problems as well as a recall on several parts.
