How many recalls has the 2018 Nissan Rogue had?

As of August 2020, the 2018 Nissan Rogue has had just one recall issued involving the backup camera. In this instance, the camera would not reset to the default position after restarting the car.

Thankfully, in this article, we’ll cover this recall in detail. We’ll also look at a recall petition that’s currently open involving a faulty emergency braking system.

Back-up Camera Malfunction

NHTSA Recall ID: 19V654000

The first recall on the 2018 Nissan Rogue was due to a fault with the backup camera, displaying a 360-degree bird’s eye view around the vehicle for precision parking assistance and backing up. However, the backup camera and display settings led to the first recall on the 2018 Nissan Rogue and Rogue Sport.

The backup camera could be adjusted so that it was not displaying the rear view behind the vehicle. However, the next time the vehicle was started, the backup camera would not reset to the centered, default position.

Nissan and Infiniti identified all of the affected Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) starting in September 2019, and recall notices went out to all 2018 Nissan Rogue owners on November 11, 2019. A software update was performed at Nissan dealerships to correct the backup camera issue at no cost to Nissan Rogue owners.

Recall Petition: False Automatic Emergency Braking

NHTSA received a defect petition to open an investigation into the 2018 Nissan Rogue AEB system in September 2019. The Center for Auto Safety alleges that the 2018 Nissan Rogues AEB system is delivering false positives. This meant that certain vehicles would begin braking when there was no object or obstruction in front of the car.

The Center for Auto Safety also alleged that Nissan is aware of the problem. They accuse them of not addressing the safety issue properly. Nissan issued a Customer Service Initiative relating to the AEB system. They urged owners to get their vehicle serviced (since it falls outside the initial vehicle warranty).

The NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) agreed to look into the allegations in the petition. So far, the ODI has located 129 complaints of false-positive engagement of the 2018 Nissan Rogues AEB System.

Nissan is cooperating with the investigation and has submitted an extra 750 complaints about false positives of the AEB. Four of these false positives have resulted in soft-tissue injuries, including whiplash.

NHTSA will investigate whether the actions taken by Nissan to correct the problem were sufficient. NHTSA probes are methodical and take time, so it is unclear whether this investigation will ultimately lead to a safety recall.

In one afternoon I lost five sensors all at one time
I have a 2018 Nissan Rogue I love the car it's my baby 2 months ago I'm driving and my dashboard lit up like crazy of a bunch of things not working I wound up finding out that the brake system or the braking system that's in front of the car that sensor that will break or start to break if I'm going to hit something the lane changing that if a car is in your blind spot lights up that's gone when you go over into a different Lane and not realize it that one is gone and this is something totally different my phone system is gone I can hear people they can't hear me and it doesn't hear my commands that probably has nothing to do with the sensors but it all happened at one time there's a breaking sensor that went on I took my car into my mechanic he checked my brakes they were fine so what's the sensor then there's a a sensor for not having enough air in my tires all this was checked everything is fine it's all the d**n sensors what the hell am I supposed to do now. I went to the dealership they said well you got to do a diagnostic check that's $269 that's them just finding everything they said the the phone system probably needs an update you got to pay for the update never knew systems like this ever needed an update it's amazing what they don't tell you about and then all the sensors nothing's actually wrong with my car it's the sensors but let me tell you I truly miss that pre-breaking system in front of the car. This is going to be hundreds of thousands of dollars I can't take care of this and with all these lights lit up I can't trade the car in and there are no recalls for this I've written them they don't give a s**t nothing I'm scared to death I have nothing in that car keeping me safe or that's working to keep me safe

More than five sensors went out in one afternoon at the same time
I have a 2018 Nissan Rogue I did not buy it new I've had it for 3 years loved it had no problems nothing, and two months ago while driving lights came up on my dashboard scared the hell out of me I lost my braking system for in front of the car my Lane changes where it shows you if someone's in your blind spot I lost when I happened to go over yellow line or white line in the road without signaling it would beep and show it on the dashboard, there is a brake sensor broken my brakes have been checked they are fine also the sensor that helps keep my car from sliding when it's wet outside or hydroplaning that's also gone and maybe this just wasn't my day but my phone system with the radio is gone I can hear them they can't hear me and the phone system itself cannot take a command from me. I took it to Nissan of course you have to have a diagnostic check that was $269 I can't do that then this guy is telling me well the telephone thing probably needs an update then they're telling me I would have to pay for the update and then they're telling me that sometimes you know the sensors they're broken you know they're telling me it happens it happens. That's a bunch of BS no one tells you at the beginning that eventually you're going to need a possible update for the phone system so you could drive safely and this happened in one afternoon from the phone and all the other sensors so what's that about I wrote so many letters I know they don't give a s**t but I can't afford to pay this off, and I can't trade it in with all these lights on the dashboard,!!!! I am so scared I don't know what to do there's no recalls but I refuse to believe that this just happened to me and like I said it was 2 months ago.

AEB and whole electrical system
I brought my rogue into Nissan cherry hill for this exact issue.Showed them these articles but said I have to pay for them to investigate this issue (and other electric issues) I’ve had with the Nissan; that unless Nissan is sued and found guilty that is the only time they would look it over/fix an issue for free. This is really concerning. Especially with Nissan being aware of this problem.

Uncalled for Braking
Nissan needs to investigate the auto braking collision avoidance system. When it goes off for no reason, it is a scary process. If someone panicked and swerved left or right it could be fatal
