A Closer Look at the 2020 Dodge Charger

It may be a sedan, but the 2020 Dodge Charger looks a lot more like a muscle car. In fact, it’s the four doors alone that give away the fact that this is a sedan designed primarily for moving families around town.

In the standard model, the 2020 Dodge Charger’s engine is nothing to sneeze at. The 3.6-liter V6 delivers 292 horsepower and 260 foot-pounds of torque. The estimated 19/30 MPG is decent, but not overly impressive.

This engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic rear-wheel-drive transmission in the base SXT model, with all-wheel drive as an option.

Step inside the 2020 Dodge Charger and you’ll find a handsome interior that favors the driver because all of the important controls and features are tipped toward the driver. The 8.4-inch infotainment system is a touch screen and Uconnect enabled.

As a sedan, the 2020 Dodge Charger will often haul the family around, and the spacious head and legroom in the rear seats is something families appreciate.

Cargo capacity isn’t huge at 16.5 cubic feet, but it’s adequate. Add 60/40 folding bench rear seats and you add some additional cargo space when it’s needed.

Add More Power With the R/T

The base Charger isn’t a bad car, but if you’re looking for more power and styling, consider an upgrade to the 2020 Dodge Charger R/T.

With the R/T, you get a 5.7L Hemi V8 engine. The Fuel Saver Technology doesn’t improve your MPG much, as it’s rated 16/25, but the engine increases power to 370 horsepower and 395 lb-ft. The 160-mph speedometer indicates the additional power in the car too.

This trim is paired with the same 8-speed automatic with overdrive, and it’s only available in rear-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is not an option with the R/T. With a price tag of around $37,890, this is the lowest-priced trim with the Hemi V8.

The R/T also has an impressive look. The hood boasts a functional scoop that makes the car feel just a bit more sporty. It also has 20 x 8-inch Satin Carbon aluminum wheels with Rhombi center caps.

All of this makes the 2020 Dodge Charger R/T a powerful little car. It goes from 0 to 60 in 6.7 seconds.

The addition of a performance suspension makes it a comfortable car to drive, even with the added power of the upgraded engine.

The car has some aesthetic upgrades too. Body-colored rear and front bumpers, a black grille, and body-colored fascia give it sleek styling.

Homework First, Drive Later

If the specs of the 2020 Dodge Charger R/T have turned your head, you’re probably feeling anxious to start shopping. When you find one that fits your needs, always check the Vehicle History first. With details about the car’s past, you can protect yourself from buying a lemon.
