Is big and bold your goal for your next vehicle? Are you after an engine that can pull a boat and still get the kids to school on time? The 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is no small SUV, and neither is the price tag on it. So, is it worth it?

What does the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk offer?

Want impressive? The 2020 Trackhawk offers a huge 6.2L V8 engine that produces 707 horsepower with an 8-speed automatic and auto-manual transmission. This 4×4 has a towing capacity of 7200 pounds and 1350 pounds of payload capacity.

You want features, and you want power. That’s just some of what the Trackhawk for 2020 has to offer.

We’ll break down more of the specs here and give you some insight into whether this model is better than the lower trim options.

Driving.ca offers a solid video to showcase this. Don’t forget to get all of the specs for the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk through Vehicle History.

Why You Need to Check out the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk

The Jeep Grand Cherokee wants to be both a family SUV and an off-road, ripping up the highway type of vehicle. That’s why it has such a big engine and an impressive number of features in the 2020 model. The Trackhawk is the highest trim model in the 2020 lineup and has a starting MSRP of well over $83,000.

This video provides a clear view of the interior and exterior of this SUV. It also breaks down some of the features of the engine. Keep in mind that the Trackhawk has a number of different optional upgrades and packages, which makes the version in the video a bit more impressive (yes, that’s possible).

It’s surely impressive and in some ways, overkill, but the Trackhawk is the type of vehicle some owners are after. Let’s break down some of those key features.

Check out the Powertrain on the Trackhawk

The biggest selling point for the Trackhawk is that the engine (and yes, some have noted it’s a bit over-the-top). The 2020 Grand Cherokee Trackhawk offers a 6.2L V8 engine that produces a massive 707 horsepower and 645 lb-ft. Add to that the 4-wheel drive setup and the 8-speed automatic and auto-manual transmission.

If you’re planning to buy a fuel-efficient vehicle, this isn’t it. The EPA-estimate for the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee is 11 city and 17 highway for 13 combined miles per gallon.

Let’s say you want to head out to the lake or tow a trailer (or maybe even your tiny home). The Trackhawk may be enough with its 7200 pounds of towing capacity and 1350 pounds of payload capacity. Remember, this vehicle is marketed as a family car and an every-day performer. We think it is much more.

With a 24.6-gallon fuel tank and strong suspension system, the 2020 Trackhawk gives you the flexibility you need on the road. The Quadra-Lift air suspension system takes that comfort and performance to the next level.

It comes with standard run-flat AS tires (you can upgrade to the performance tires as well), four-wheel independent suspension, and 20-inch wheels. It also features Ride Control and an electro-mechanical limited-slip differential.

The Quadra-Drive II 4-wheel drive system and Quadra-Trac II 4-wheel drive system are both excellent. It also offers a Selec-Terrain system for those days when dirt belongs on the body.

How about that Body

The exterior of the 2020 Grand Cherokee overall is solid and massive, and the Trackhawk offers some key upgradeable features. It comes with a standard Class IV receiver-hitch, and you can check out the trailer-tow Group IV package to add even more towing fun to the mix.

Check out the Luxury Inside

As the top trim option, you expect this vehicle to offer some luxury and comfort throughout. It does a solid job. Some fun features include the heated and ventilated memory front seats as well as the heated rear seats (now the kids won’t complain). Leather is still an optional upgrade, not standard on the Trackhawk.

When it comes to entertainment and infotainment, the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk doesn’t give up. The Premium Alpine sound system coupled with the rear video entertainment center means you can drown out all of those cries of “Are we there yet?” and enjoy the ride.

It also offers optional 19 Harman/Kardon speakers and two second-row LCD monitors. It’s also worth upgrading to the entertainment system with Blu-ray if you’ll be in the car for a long time.

You get all of the smart tech onboard as well, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It’s all voice-activated as well. This includes automated reverse sensing system, auto leveling headlights, auto high-beam headlights (called SmartBeam) and cross path rear collision detection. ParkView also helps you park with ease.

Check out the standard delay-off projector beam Bi-Xenon high-intensity beam headlamps that are standard. You’ll also like the automated parking sensors, lane departure warning, and rain-sensing wipers, all of which are standard.

How Does it Compare to the Lower Trims?

For the most part, the Trackhawk is a standalone model. The bigger engine, added tech, and the overall interior comfort make it a solid option for those who want the finer things in life, at least in their SUV. You’ll find it a powerful option for just about any need.
