There’s no shortage of options to choose from if you’re looking for a midsize sedan. But if you’re looking for something sleek, stylish, and performance-oriented, you won’t want to pass up the 2020 Mazda 6.

How reliable is the 2020 Mazda 6?

The 2020 Mazda 6 has good reliability ratings from owners and experts alike, with no open recalls as of November 2020. This car also receives a J.D. Power “Quality & Reliability” rating of 80/100.

Vehicle History Reviews:

  • Owner Reviews: 4.64 stars
  • Expert Reviews: 4.4/5

Staying on top of owner ratings, expert reviews, and open recalls can be cumbersome and time-consuming. That’s why we’ve saved you the hassle by outlining this information (and more!) about the 2020 Mazda 6 below.

More about the Mazda 6

The 2020 Mazda 6 is part of this midsize sedan’s third generation of production, which launched in 2014. Despite its design being a bit longer in the tooth, the 2020 Mazda 6 remains a popular choice among discerning shoppers.

Five trim configurations are offered on the 2020 Mazda 6, ranging from the base Sport to the downright luxurious Signature model. The trim that’s right for you will depend on what kind of engine power and features you need.

The two base trims receive a standard 2.5L four-cylinder engine at 187 horsepower, whereas stepping up to a mid-tier or range-topping trim yields you a turbocharged 2.5L four-cylinder at 250 horsepower.

Standard equipment on the 2020 Mazda 6 includes a sleek eight-inch touchscreen display, LED headlights, and a suite of safety features like adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with emergency braking, and more.

With plenty of power under the hood and a comfortable, spacious cabin, there’s a lot to admire on the 2020 Mazda 6.

All of this, combined with great reliability scores and a five-year, 60,000-mile powertrain warranty make the 2020 Mazda 6 a top contender in the midsize sedan category.

2020 Mazda 6 Recalls & Complaints

There are no open recalls on the 2020 Mazda 6 as of November 2020, which is reassuring if you’re looking for a reliable car that won’t give you any trouble.

Even an online search for owner complaints about the 2020 Mazda 6 doesn’t bring up many results.

Pitted Brakes/Rotors

One owner complaint that is worth noting, however, was posted by John Smith in July of 2020. In this review, he claims that his Mazda is already having brake problems, even though it is new with relatively low mileage.

This owner reports that the brakes and rotors on the car have become very rusted and “pitted,” and that the Mazda dealership initially didn’t want to cover the repairs under warranty.

Eventually, the owner was able to get the repairs mostly covered (minus an hour of labor charges) under warranty, but he is disappointed in his experience. If you’re looking at a new or used Mazda 6, take a close look at the brakes.
