5 Car Brands You Should Never Buy (Video)

Everyone is aware that a quality vehicle will last longer than one that starts off with poor parts or defects. Unfortunately, many vehicle brands have been going downhill over time.

Scotty Kilmer has pointed out five brands that have continued to reduce in quality over time. His top five car brands that you shouldn’t buy include:

  • Chrysler
  • General Motors
  • Volkswagen
  • Mercedes-Benz
  • Nissan

According to Scotty Kilmer, or #SavageScotty, an expert who is sharing his views on YouTube, these are the five car brands you should never buy due to their poor quality, expensive repairs, and other issues.

Chrysler

Did you know that Chrysler lost 13.1% of its car sales in 2018? That’s not the only reason not to buy from them, though. They also have limited vehicles to choose from.

The quality of the vehicles produced by Chrysler was getting worse, but then they were purchased by Mercedes. It’s believed that Mercedes lost billions on the deal. Today, Fiat owns the brand.

Fifty years ago, these vehicles would have been among the best, but over time, they’ve progressively gotten worse.

General Motors

General Motors used to be a popular brand in the ’60s, as they were very reliable vehicles. They make Cadillac, a luxury brand… but that brand has gone downhill as well.

Scotty’s customers, he claims, have been unhappy with their GM vehicles in the last 10 to 15 years, on the whole.

Volkswagen

The original Beetle was highly dependable, easy to fix and cheap to repair when it first came out. The newer Beetles in the 2000s had dual-clutch automatic transmissions that had to be rebuilt due to poor quality.

Many owners had to replace door handles or air conditioning compressors because of the overuse of plastic in the newer vehicles.

Volkswagen also cheated on their emissions tests, which is one other reason not to trust the company.

Mercedes-Benz

In the late ’60s, these vehicles were solid and lasted forever. They were expensive but reliable. Over time, the company started adding technology and changing where they were being manufactured.

Since they started being made in the USA, they began having more problems.

It’s worth noting that the brand still has quality transmissions and engines, but there are over 100 separate computer microprocessors in some models.

Scotty Kilmer calls this a “money pit” vehicle. It’s expensive to fix these vehicles when anything goes wrong, and the resale values are low.

Nissan

They used to make reliable sports vehicles, but things have gotten worse for Nissan over time. The Nissan Ultima was ranked the least-reliable sedan in 2018 due to the CVT transmissions used in some models.

When the vehicles do break down, replacing or repairing the CVT transmissions tends to cost more than the entire vehicle is worth.

Renault did take over the brand, but Nissan’s quality went downhill significantly after that. In the last 10 years, most people have had complaints about Nissans, according to his experience.
