Gray 2015 Ford Fiesta With White Background

Although the Ford Fiesta was first sold in the United States in the ’70s, it took a lengthy hiatus, which ended in 2008. It came back better than ever with its sixth-generation styling. With its facelift in 2013, this supermini easily captures the hearts of everyone it encounters, making it one of the most popular cars in Ford’s lineup.

Still in the sixth generation, the 2015 Ford Fiesta continues to attract loyal followers in droves. Along with its attractive styling, this little car boasts ample interior space for its size, multiple transmission options, and safety features galore. With all it has to offer, it is definitely a safe bet for those who want a little car with big personality.

If you are certain that this supermini is sure to be your next car, it’s high time to learn about all its recalls and start researching the particulars in earnest. That way, you can buy a 2015 Ford Fiesta without worrying about hidden problems that may come your way.

Defective Door Latch

The door latches on certain 2015 Ford Fiesta vehicles are prone to breakage with normal use. When they start to fall apart, the doors may take several tries to get to click together. Over time, the door might feel impossible to latch fully or could appear latched when it is not.

Driving without the door securely closed may result in its coming open around corners and ejecting any of your improperly belted passengers. The doors could also hit other vehicles and objects along the roadway, including signs and pedestrians.

Fixing the problem is easy, thankfully, as it only requires replacing the door latches on either side of the vehicle. Technicians will confirm that the latches fully close the doors after completing the repairs to help keep you safe on all your travels.

Risk of Engine Cylinder Head Damage

Ford Fiestas with the 1.6L GTDI engine are at risk of running low on coolant due to a faulty sensor. When in good working order, this sensor should let you know when the coolant gets too low. That way, you can stop driving the vehicle until you can get more coolant in the system, protecting the engine from damage.

Without that info, you may continue to drive the vehicle, causing the engine to overheat and the head to crack. If that happens, the engine will likely leak oil everywhere, including the hot exhaust manifold, catalytic converter and exhaust tubing. The oil on the manifold could then catch on fire, putting you and your passengers at serious risk of injury or death.

To fix the problem, technicians must perform an inspection to see if engine damage has already occurred. If not, then they can likely just replace the coolant level sensor to resolve the issue in full. Otherwise, they may need to replace the cylinder head or entire engine to fix the problem.

Potential for Fuel Pump Failure

The fuel pumps used on Fiestas built in mid-2014 are prone to failure due to improper manufacturing of their interior parts. The nickel plating inside the pumps was not created correctly and could catastrophically impede its normal function.

When the nickel plating causes the fuel pump to fail, it cannot properly deliver fuel to the engine, causing it to stall. This could result in an accident if other vehicles do not notice your decrease in speed or fail to let you get over to the side of the road before you lose momentum.

Techs just have to replace the fuel pump to remedy this issue and keep your vehicle driving safely. They may also check that it is operating at the right fuel pressure levels before returning it to your care.

Tips for Checking Over a 2015 Ford Fiesta Before You Buy

As you set out to purchase a 2015 Ford Fiesta, take the time to check for recalls using the Recalls and Field Service Actions tool from Ford. You’ll just need to take the vehicle’s 17-character VIN and input it into the search bar. Once you hit the search button, the system will let you know if the vehicle in question has already received all its recall repairs.

Don’t stop there, however. You can also look into the car’s past with a VIN check from Vehicle History. With that, you can see if it has sustained damage in accidents, has a branded title, and much more. Then, using that info, you can determine if that car meets your expectations or if you should look at other Fiestas for sale instead.

Once you add this supermini to your lineup, continue checking for recalls at least once a year. If any come up, then just give Ford’s customer service team a call at 1-866-436-7332. Or reach out to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration hotline at 1-888-327-4236. The representative you reach will let you know how to best handle the recalls, including where to go and what to expect.

2015 Ford Fiesta SE
Great car. Slow 0 to 50 MPH However, 50 to 120 MPH quick and hold lane well at high speed. At 5000 miles it took the car on interstate at night open car up to see maximum speed bouncing speedometer at 130 MPH so used my cell phone to get top speed at 139MPH not recommended with H rate tire maximum speed of 130 mph. I was so surprised by this. Transmission doe act like stick vs automatic and computer seem to lose shift if slam on the brakes, which need shift manually Weird not good thing , so not recommended to people like tailgate slam brakes the hit accelerator it I figure mess up clutches in transmission. However, I have 220,000 plus mile will out any transmission issues Maintenance oil changes, transmission fuild change every 50,000, coolant changes x2 , new tire , 4 set new brakes on front, one set on the back brakes, front end part both side replaced, perch valve replacement x2, one alternator, wiper blades, 2 new batteries not horror for car I drove 8 years and 220,000 miles and still drive very well. IF TAKE CARE CAR yes there's maintenance needed but I don't believe its horrorable They also replacement door hinges on only recall for my Vin number 🤔

2015 Ford Fiesta FAILURES
My Fiesta Titanium door open light came on when driving. When I parked, the horn started beeping. When I got home it didn’t beep. However when trying to start my car the next morning, the brake pedal wouldn’t go down so I could push the starter, messages were “immobilizer service now, steering faulty, downhill start not available “ and I couldn’t put the car in neutral to be towed. It was taken to a Ford Dealership for diagnosis. They couldn’t find the issue so now they have to do another diagnosis tomorrow. Looks like a 300 dollar bill and they might not even be able to find out what’s wrong. So Ford gets an F FROM ME! I’ve only had this car for 3 years

Fun little car
Great on gas and has been a good little car until recently. 67,000 miles and started having transmission problem. Turned out that it was a factory recall. Part on backorder and took 4 months to get it. Thankfully Ford Motor paid for rental. Then when the part came in and the dealer fixed the transmission problem while out on test drive the a/c unit died, another month of backordered parts. 5 months and 7 days I finally have the car back. Love my little car just hope no other issues for awhile

Runs great
Has been very reliable , a great vehicle all together . I knew about the transmission problems before I got the car and purchased a manual 5 speed to avoid them and because it is super fun. The only issue I have had is the driver side window rolling half way up and back down sometimes but a little adjustment while rolling it up avoids this issue.

2015 Ford Fiesta SE- spacious yet poorly built.
The transmission started having problems at 90,000 miles. Then everything started to fall apart with it. While the repairs haven't been as expensive as they could have been, I do not feel as if it should start having issues this soon. I would advise anyone to do their research. Also look into the recalls.

2015 Ford Fiesta S. Super great car, with the exception of constant door recalls.
Coolant leaked into the radiator. This model has also had several door recalls as the latches will not catch or hold and may cause the door to fly open while driving. But the car handles great, smooth turns, quick responses. I would buy this car again after door problems are resolved.

2015 Ford Fiesta check your VIN number for coverage on broken or faulty parts.
What commonly happens with the focus and fiesta is that their clutches end up going bad due to where they were manufactured. Look up your vin to see if you have any parts of your car up for recall or extended manufacturer warranties called customer satisfaction programs.

2015 ford fiesta sedan titanium. Small and good on gas.
The back up camera is in the trunk lid. When you close the trunk lid it will mess the camera up and it will quit working. When I first got the car it was always being called in to the shop due to recalls. It drives good though and gets really good gas mileage.

2015 Ford Fiesta SE review...Truthful.
There has been a good bit of recalls we have had to have taken care of. There has also been an ac issues I believe where there is often times a clicking sound that they have claimed is not covered by warranty.

I wouldn't spend money on a 2015 Ford Fiesta SE, it is not worth it.
I am not completely satisfied with my purchase due to the amount of recalls and also it is not an economic car. The car is also too small and has been giving me too many problems since I bought it.

2015 Ford Fiesta SE transmission. It shakes.
The transmission shakes really bad. I took it in for the recall and they said it wasn't bad enough. However, it shakes any time I accelerate. Other than that I have no complaints.

2015 Ford Fiesta S has good gas mileage. With gas prices dropping, the tank is full with $20.
The only recent issue was with the recall on a part with the transmission. We were able to get this covered and since having it fixed, it's running just as good as it had before.

A small and efficient 2015 Ford Fiesta SE
Personally we've had no issues but there have been a few recalls so I would watch out for that. Otherwise the car has lasted us quite a while and has served me very well.

2015 Ford Fiesta SE: Awful, cheap, always broken car
It's ALWAYS broken. It's incredibly frustrating. I've had engine problems, air problems, and computer issues and I've had to bring it in for a recall.

2015 Ford Fiesta S been a great first vehicle it's great on gas and I had the very basic model.
It like to stick when accelerating I have heard it is on recall list so that is not good! Other than that it is a great reliable vehicle.

2015 Ford Fiesta SE a/c can be a problem and can sometimes run rough.
The a/c system needs constant repair and sometimes the vehicle runs roughly. There was a recall on the vehicle about two years ago.
