Equipped with a monstrous 6.2L Hemi V8 engine, the Dodge Challenger Hellcat is one of the fastest cars on the road today. If you are thinking of purchasing a used Challenger Hellcat, though, it’s important to first take a look at any recalls that might have been issued for the vehicle.

How many recalls have been issued on the Dodge Challenger Hellcat?

As of August 2020, only one recall has been issued specifically for the Dodge Challenger Hellcat. This recall concerns an issue with the engine oil cooler hose that could cause a rapid loss of engine oil.

To help you learn more about this issue before you purchase a Dodge Challenger Hellcat, we’ll detail everything you need to know about the recall.

Oil Leak Due to Engine Oil Cooler Hose Separation

NHTSA Recall ID: 17V496000

In 2017, Dodge issued a recall for some 2017 Dodge Challenger models that were equipped with a Hellcat engine due to a problem with the engine oil cooler hoses, which may cause them to fail.

If these hoses fail, oil could be sprayed onto the windshield or onto a hot surface, creating both the risk of driver impairment as well as the risk of a fire. To repair this issue, Dodge has offered to replace the engine oil cooler hoses free of charge on all affected models.

How Do You Handle an Open Recall on a Dodge Challenger Hellcat?

To check if there are any open recalls on your Dodge Challenger Hellcat model, you can visit the NHTSA and type in your vehicle’s VIN number. From there, the system will alert you if there are any recalls on your specific vehicle.

If you do discover an open recall on your Hellcat, call the Dodge customer service phone line at 1 (800) 423-6343 to learn the next steps to follow. They will be able to tell you if your vehicle needs any repairs and walk you through the recall repair process.
