Dodge stakes their reputation on being able to build a quality vehicle, and the 2018 Durango is no exception. Sadly, there are still times that issues crop up. Most often, these concerns don’t become evident until after the vehicle has already left the showroom. In this case, the manufacturer may issue a recall.

What recalls have been issued for the 2018 Dodge Durango

As of September 2020, the 2018 Dodge Durango has had 3 recalls. These relate to a faulty voltage regulator, a defective cruise control, and the installation of an incorrect part.

Voltage Regulator May Fail and Cause Stall

NHTSA Recall ID: 18V524000

Chrysler has issued a recall for certain 2018 Dodge Durango vehicles over a concern that the powertrain control module may be equipped with a faulty voltage regulator chip in the circuit board. The issue could cause a stall or even a no-start condition. This recall began October 2, 2018.

Chrysler has contacted owners, who have been asked to take their vehicles to a dealership for service. Qualified repair professionals will replace the powertrain control module at no charge.

Owners who have questions about this recall may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403 and reference recall U87.

In addition to contacting Chrysler’s customer service, owners may wish to contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 or online at www.safercar.gov.

Cruise Control Cannot be Cancelled

NHTSA Recall ID: 18V332000

Car Cruise Control Button

A defect that can prevent the cruise control system from disengaging is behind a recall by Chrysler for certain 2018 Dodge Durango vehicles. The concern is that while the cruise control is being used, a short circuit can occur within the vehicle’s wiring.

This could prevent the driver from being able to shut off the cruise control, whether depressing the brake pedal or manually turning off the system. This would result in the vehicle maintaining its current speed or possibly even accelerating. This recall began June 4, 2018.

Chrysler has notified owners and advised them to bring their vehicles to a dealer. The dealership will inspect the vehicle’s software and perform a software flash on the engine or powertrain control module at no cost.

Chrysler has also advised owners to stop using cruise control until the software update has been addressed.

If a driver finds that the cruise control cannot be disengaged while driving, they are advised to firmly and steadily apply the brakes and then shift the transmission to neutral. Once stopped, the vehicle can be safely placed into park.

Owners who have additional questions about this recall may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403 and reference recall U49.

In addition to contacting Chrysler’s customer service, owners may wish to contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 or online at www.safercar.gov.

Incorrect Transmission Park Rods Installed

NHTSA Recall ID: 18V280000

Certain 2018 Dodge Durango vehicles are part of a Chrysler recall due to the possibility that an incorrect transmission park lock rod may have been installed in the transmission. This recall began June 28, 2018.

The concern is that if the incorrect park rod is installed, it may prohibit the transmission from shifting into park to keep the vehicle from moving. This would increase the risk of unintended vehicle movement which could lead to an increased risk of crash.

Chrysler has notified owners and advised them to bring their vehicles to a dealer who will install the correct park lock rod at no cost.

Owners who have additional questions about this recall may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403 and reference recall U43.

In addition to contacting Chrysler’s customer service, owners have the option of contacting the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 or online at www.safercar.gov.
