The Chevy Impalas lifespan gives credit to its American heritage

A big part of designing a great vehicle is making sure it lasts. Thankfully, for Chevy Impala owners, they can rest easy knowing their car should last an extremely long time.

The Impala dates all the way back to 1958 when it was the top-tier trim on the Chevy Bel Air. Fast-forward to today, and it’s not only made a name for itself with the average car buyer, but with law enforcement and other types of livery as well.

What is the lifespan of a Chevy Impala?

On average, owners of various Chevy Impala year models have reported that this vehicle lasts about 160,000 miles before running into issues, with numerous owners reporting that their Chevy Impala has lasted 200,000 miles or more without breaking down.

Below, we will take a closer look at the Chevy Impala’s longevity and reliability as well as other important information to consider regarding this model.

More About the Chevy Impala

The Chevy Impala is a large car that first came onto the market as a 1958 model. In the more than six decades that have passed since this first Impala was released, the Chevy Impala has remained in continuous production and remains a highly popular choice among drivers looking for a roomy and luxurious car.

Currently, the Chevy Impala is in its tenth generation, which started with the release of the 2014 Impala and has continued through the 2020 model. Some notable features and specs for the tenth generation Impala include:

  • A 197 horsepower 2.5L (153 ci) four-cylinder base engine and an available 305 hp 3.6L (217 ci) V6 engine
  • A FWD drivetrain
  • A six-speed automatic transmission
  • Available features such as heated and cooled front seats, leather seats, a heated steering wheel, and much more.

How Many Miles Will the Chevy Impala Last?

There are a lot of factors that go into determining how many miles you can expect to get out of your Chevy Impala, including your car’s year model, your driving habits, the road quality and climate where you live, and much more.

With that said, though, numerous Chevy Impala owners on Vehicle History have reported that their vehicle continued to function flawlessly past the 200,000-mile mark, with 160,000 miles seeming to be the average lifespan of the Chevy Impala.

Thanks in large part to this reliability, as well as the Chevy Impala’s impressive performance, the Impala has remained a popular vehicle among police agencies and rental car companies — something that is in and of itself a testament to the Chevy Impala’s longevity.

Is a Used Chevy Impala the Right Choice for You?

The Chevy Impala is an excellent large car with a storied history, capable engine options, a wide range of exciting standard and available features, and a design that is built to last.

Before you purchase a used Chevy Impala, though, be sure to download the Vehicle History report for the specific car that you are considering. In this comprehensive report, you will find information such as the car’s accident history, repair history, and much more, helping ensure that you purchase a used car that will last for many miles without running into serious issues.

My 06 is it worth putting more into it
06 Impala replaced engine water pump and I seem to have no other problems besides my transmission has went to hell in a hand basket My question should I expect any more major problems to break according to reports my old engine was 150,000 my used new is 140,000 with the up keep and keeping up with minor things over all the car runs like a champion it feels solid but all I hear is that these cars this year 06 was junk I don’t want to keep spending but I’ve not over 2,000 in already I’m the second owner the car was exceptional in condition and to keep I don’t drive it hard I tend to baby it if anything. I want to sale its rather big and I park like I just finished a bottle and I’m three sheets sailing north. But I like it it’s so big I need a transmission should I invest in new or can I go with used abs please tell me why if you answer I’ma girl if you didn’t already figure it out but I’m not without some knowledge so please I’m out of my league and don’t want to be taken please help I have to do something now neighbors are starting to complain Allijway@gmail.com Thank you

2008 Chevy Impala with a 3.5 L
I love this car I hate to get rid of this car my Chevy Impala has 300,000 miles on it to date I am the second owner I have on the car since 2019 I got the car and had 138,000 miles on it and I have put the remainder of 300,000 miles on it I've driven it all over the place and this vehicle has been a very good vehicle I replaced the rack and pinion I've replaced the power steering pump I have repaid placed the tension pulley and that is the extent of the repairs I have done to this vehicle. I believe that the body has had experienced more wear and tear on it than anything the motor still running like a true champ the transmission has a small slip in it when you first accelerate but for the most part this car I would trust to take me anywhere in the United States of America and if it could cross water I would take it there too I love my 2008 Chevy Impala

Very durable 2009 Impala
Our 2009 Impala: has 180,000 miles, runs like new. Original alternator, starter, A/C (has never been recharged), ignition system, radiator, exhaust system. Need to add 1 quart of oil every 4,000 miles. Replaced tie-rod ends and PS pump (total, $1,000), no other major repairs. Expect it will run at last 250,000 miles, amazingly durable.

2009 Impala LT
This car was beautiful to drive, smoother than my dads 2015 mercedes c300 and it was a tank. Got it to 252k miles and trans just clicked and no more forward gears but she did her job well. In the process of getting a 2016 Impala LTZ love these cars and its very easy/affordable to fix yourself or for a shop.

2009 impala
I got her with 170k miles for 1k. Put in a New power steering pump when I bought her. Rack and pinion about 210k. Now she has 275k miles in her. Some small issues that don't effect how she drives. But she has a whole lot of life left in her.
