For years, the Dodge Charger has remained one of the most popular sports cars on the road, thanks especially to its exhilarating power and roomy four-door design. Before purchasing a Charger, be sure to first check its history, starting with any recalls that might have been issued for the vehicle.

Have there been any wheel recalls for the Dodge Charger

As of September 2020, there have been three recalls involving the wheels, including:

  • Potential for a tire to separate from the wheels
  • Potential for the body-side sill to collapse if the vehicle is jacked up without chocking the wheels
  • An issue with the wheels that may cause the front tires to be damaged

Thankfully, we will cover each of these recalls in detail below to help you determine if the Dodge Charger is the right choice for your next used vehicle purchase.

Missing Front Wheel Spindle Nut

NHTSA Recall ID: 09V420000

In October 2009, Dodge issued a recall for certain 2009-2010 Charger models equipped with a RWD drivetrain, stating that the vehicles may have been manufactured with a missing front wheel spindle nut.

On affected models, the vehicle’s front tire could separate from the wheel during operation, greatly increasing the risk of an accident. To repair this issue, Dodge has offered to repair the tire and wheel assembly free of charge on all affected models.

Body-Side Sill May Give When Jacking Car

NHTSA Recall ID: 16V043000

In January 2016, Dodge issued a recall for certain 2011-2016 Dodge Charger vehicles that had been manufactured from August 23, 2010 to January 7, 2016.

When the affected models are lifted using the supplied tire jack without chocking the wheels, the body-side sill may give, causing the jack to fail and the car to collapse. This, of course, creates a serious injury hazard for anyone working under the vehicle while it is lifted.

To remedy this issue, Dodge has offered to supply wheel chocks and instructions for their use free of charge to anyone who owns one of the models affected by the recall.

Front Tire May be Damaged

NHTSA Recall ID: 19V758000

In October 2019, Dodge issued a recall for certain 2019 Dodge Charger models, stating that an incompatible front wheel and brake package may have been installed.

On affected models, this issue may cause the front tire to contact the steering knuckle, causing damage to the tire and greatly increasing the risk of an accident.

To repair this issue, Dodge has offered to replace the front tires and adjust the wheel alignment free of charge on all affected models.
