Ford Car Models To Add To Your Shopping List

Automakers have been scaling back for the 2020 season owing to economic turbulence, but perhaps none more so than Ford. Announced back in 2018, we’re getting just two Ford car models from here on. The F-series trucks and SUVs are still going strong, but limited interest has limited Ford’s car lineup.

What car models does Ford make?

  • Fusion: $19,856 – $26,283
  • Mustang: $29,416 – $68,888

Besides the 2020 economic downturn, the fact is that conventional sedans and coupes have been falling out of favor for awhile, with drivers and automakers both shifting their attention to electrics and SUVs. Ford’s car lineup is small, but solid.

Fusion: $19,856 – $26,283

In the 90s, you could take your pick of sensible Ford sedans, like the Contour and the Taurus. Today you’ve got the Fusion. But then, it doesn’t make a lot of sense to have a half-dozen models to serve a single market.

Ford Model: Black 2020 Fusion

With the Fusion, Ford is doing just one model for the sedan market, but doing it very well. You have AdvanceTrac stability control plus ABS and traction control, Ford Co-Pilot360 BLIS blind spot monitor and automatic emergency braking, and lane keep assist.

The Fusion feels like a classic Ford sedan, but it’s about as safe as anything on the road today. With optional heated/cooled leather bucket seats, it’s more stylish than you might think, too.

Basic Specs:

  • MPG City/Highway: 21/31
  • Engine: 175 horsepower 2.5L iVCT/245 horsepower 2.0L EcoBoost
  • Transmission: 6 Speed Automatic w/OD
  • 0-60: 8.9 seconds

Safety Ratings:

  • NHTSA: 5-Stars
  • IIHS: Good

Mustang: $29,416 – $68,888

When it comes to sedans, you might be trying to choose between a Fusion and a Chevy Malibu, or maybe a Volvo. When it comes to the Mustang, you want a Mustang. There’s no second choice, nothing is a Mustang but a Mustang.

Building a muscle car in 2020 is tricky, but Ford still manages to pull this small miracle off every year. The entry level EcoBoost comes with a 310 horsepower engine that might not set any landspeed records, but definitely feels the part of a Ford Mustang.

The 760 horsepower Shelby GT500 is a monster, and more power than you need every day. Right in the middle: the 480 horsepower Bullitt is a drag strip boss, but reasonable for everyday driving, too.

Basic Specs:

  • MPG City/Highway: 21/32
  • Engine: 310 horsepower 2.3L EcoBoost – 760 horsepower 5.2L Supercharged V8 (Shelby GT500)
  • Transmission: 6 – 7 Speed Automatic w/OD
  • 0-60: 4.5 seconds

Safety Ratings:

  • NHTSA: 5-Stars
  • IIHS: Good
