We can go over the five recalls for the 2020 Ford Explorer and guide you through the instructions on how to have the vehicle repaired. These are problems that can easily get fixed.

Side Airbags or Seatback Fasteners are Loose

NHTSA Recall ID: 20V497000

A recall will happen beginning on September 7, 2020 from Ford Motor Company. The side airbags or seatback fasteners’ findings are loose in the 2020 Ford Explorer and the 2020 Lincoln Aviator.

This issue must get fixed or a further injury can happen during a crash.

Once the recall is issued, the vehicles will be able to get repaired by the dealership. The service technicians will tighten the seatback fasteners and the airbags.

Fuel Lines Chafe, Causing Fuel Leakage

NHTSA Recall ID: 19V859000

The 2020 Ford Explorer and the 2020 Lincoln Aviator are being recalled. The protective sleeve on the vapor fuel line over time can chafe. A fuel leak is a result.

If the problem goes unfixed, a fire can result due to the fuel leakage.

Ford will pass on the notification to the owners of the recall. At no cost to the owner, the dealership will put a longer protective sleeve on the fuel line.

Wiring Harness Catches AC Pully or Belt

NHTSA Recall ID: 19V687000

There is a recall for 2020 Ford Explorers with 2.3L and 3.3L engines. Some of the wiring harnesses were not adequately secured. It catches the AC pulley or belt, damaging the belt or harness.

If not fixed, the insulation around the harness will rip apart, exposing the positive wire short-circuiting the vehicle or cause a fire.

The dealership will add a tie strap to secure the harness in place at no cost.

Strength Failure in Reclining Seats

NHTSA Recall ID: 19V633000

Ford Motor Company recalled the 2018-2020 F-150, 2019-2020 F-350, F-450, and F-550 Super Duty trucks and also the 2018-2020 Ford Explorers, 2019-2020 Expeditions, and 2020 Escapes. Those equipped with manual outboard seats for the rear recliner mechanisms have failed.

If the issue is unresolved, the seats will fail and cause severe injuries to the people inside the vehicle.

Ford notified the owners of the recall and replaced the seat structures at no cost to the owner.

Vehicle Remains in Factory Mode

NHTSA Recall ID: 19V575000

The 2020 Ford Explorer and the 2020 Lincoln Aviator faced recall due to the manual park release cover was not correctly in place. It kept the vehicle in factory mode and disabled the warning alerts. The transmission gear also will not show on display.

Failure to repair can allow the vehicle to move on its own. Without the warning alerts, damage to the vehicle can occur, and so can a crash.

Ford sent out a notification to all owners of the 2020 Ford Explorers. The dealership installed an MPR cover to fix the problem of getting the vehicle out of the factory mode when sent to the shop for repairs.
