Loss of Power Steering Assistance Due to Salt Corrosion

NHTSA Recall ID: 15V250000

Power steering is designed to make it easier to move a vehicle, and it’s almost essential at lower speeds when it’s most commonly used. With power steering, the driver has better control over the vehicle, making it an important safety feature.

Salt corrosion that occurs on vehicles in parts of the country where there’s severe winter weather can make the power steering assist fail to operate.

That’s caused by corrosion from the salt, and it can happen without warning. This can lead to the driver losing control and increase the chances of a crash.

Dealers will replace the damaged power steering assist and stop the corrosion problems so the issue doesn’t recur.

How to Process a Power Steering Recall for the Ford Fusion
