If there are any open recalls on a car that is 10 years old or younger, Honda is required by law to do the repair for free. Find out if the one you see on the lot has any outstanding condenser recalls in the following article.
Are there any recalls issued for Honda Accord condensers?
As of September 2020, there are no recalls that have to do with the air conditioning system or the condenser. However, there are a few customer comments in this area:
- In July of 2020, owner Charles L. reported for his 2020 Honda Accord Touring 2.0T, “The air conditioning decided to break once.”
- Also in July 2020, owner David B. had similar problems on the same model year and trim level. He reported failure of the a/c hose and loss of fluid.
- Aryana P. says that her 2017 Honda Accord EX L has to reach a certain speed before the a/c starts to kick in.
Even though these complaints have not resulted in a formal recall, they should be addressed, and we will let you know how these issues were resolved in the following article.
We will also look for any other recalls for the Honda Accord that may affect the performance of the condenser or air conditioning system.
Resolving Poor Condenser or no Air Conditioning Performance for a Honda Accord
Charles L. Air Conditioning Decided to Break Once
Since his 2020 Honda Accord was still under the initial vehicle warranty, Charles had his dealer take a look and they repaired it quickly. Sounds like another five-star review for the vehicle in the end.
David B. Complete System Failure
The owner also brought his nearly new vehicle into the dealer for warranty service when his air conditioning failed to function the first time he turned it on. Unfortunately, there was a three-month delay to get the proper parts.
Commuting without functioning air conditioning or a condenser can certainly be uncomfortable, so David asked for a courtesy car until his could be repaired.
Aryana P. The Vehicle is Amazing
As the comment that Aryana‘s AC struggles to get cold until the car is traveling at a high-speed was logged in 2020 for her 2017 Honda Accord.
One possibility is that she may be encountering a failing condenser, leaking a/c hose, or even failing fans for the climate control.
She may need a simple recharge or could be facing a more significant repair such as replacing the condenser when she brings it in for service.
When surfing the net you’re sure to find comments about bad Honda condensers. However, it should be noted that there is a warranty extension for the AC condenser on the Honda Civic 2016 through 2018.
Some of the condensers are developing pinholes due to a manufacturing glitch. This causes the coolant to leak out of the system and deliver poor or no cooling when the climate control is engaged.
This is not the same condenser or air conditioning system that is found in the Honda Accord of the same year.
