Blue Honda Fit on city street with palm trees - Vehicle History

If you’re looking for a new vehicle and want to have one that has reliable gas mileage and good seating capacity, then the Honda Fit may be the right choice for you. Before you buy a Honda Fit, it’s a good idea to get to know some of the specs.

What Honda Fit specs should you know about?

The 2020 Honda Fit has many specifications that matter, but some of the most notable include:

  • An In-line 4-cyclinder 16-Valve DOHC i-VTEC® engine
  • 128 horsepower at 6,600 rpm
  • 113 lb.-ft of torque at 4,600 rpm

There is much more to the Honda Fit than its engine, so in this article, we’ll go over some of the important specifications that may matter to you.

Then, you will be able to go forward with your purchase with the confidence that you’ve done your research.

Get to Know the Honda Fit

The Honda Fit, which has also been marketed as the Honda Jazz in some locations, is a subcompact car. It has been on the market since 2001, so it should be a familiar name. In 2019, the fourth-generation Honda Fit was released in Japan along with several trims such as Basic, Ness, Home, Luxe and Crosstar. In America, we have four trims, the LX, Sport, EX and EX-L.

The Honda Fit has been named the “Best Value Brand” by KBB for the sixth year. It was also named the Best Subcompact Car for the Money by U.S. News & World Report and received the 2019 ALG Residual Value Award.

The Honda Fit’s Safety Ratings, Important Specifications

The 2020 Honda Fit has 128 horsepower at 6,600 rpm and 113 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,600 rpm that will keep you cruising comfortably. It speeds up from 0 to 60 in just 8.2 seconds (2019 model), which is something to appreciate if you regularly enter or exit highways.

Its fuel economy is good regardless of which transmission you choose: automatic or manual, with city ratings at 29 mpg for the 6-speed manual transmission model and 33 for the continuously variable transmission. On the highway, you can expect 36 or 40 mpg, respectively. The only model that is different is the EX-L, which has 31 mpg in city and 36 on the highway.

The Honda Fit doesn’t have specific towing capacities listed frequently, as it’s not intended for towing most of the time, but it can tow up to 2,000 pounds.

The 2020 Honda Fit has no recalls at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s website, which is good news if you’re looking for a vehicle that stands up to the test of time. It also has an excellent, five-star safety rating from the NHTSA. It received five-star ratings for frontal and side crash tests as well as a four-star rating for rollovers.

Other Notable Specs to Remember

There are some other notable specs that you may be interested in if you’re shopping for the 2020 Honda Fit. The LX base model has seating capacity for five people and has a significant cargo capacity of between 16.6 cubic feet up to 52.7 cubic feet. This is a front-wheel drive model, and it takes regular gasoline. Its fuel capacity is lower than some other vehicles, accepting only 10.6 gallons at a time, so if you want to go further on a single tank of gas, you may want to look elsewhere.

In the interior, there is a 60-40 folding split-bench front-facing seat and manual reclining fold forward seatbacks in the rear, so you can make space for larger items. You also get a 6-way driver seat (optional). Like many vehicles today, it comes with cruise control and steering wheel controls, power doors with autolock features, and power windows.

The Pros and Cons of the 2020 Honda Fit

The 2020 Honda Fit has a few excellent pros, including:

  • A big cargo hold
  • Excellent fuel economy
  • Easy to park and maneuver
  • A roomy interior

The cons are significant, though. Some cons include:

  • Louder than some other economy vehicles
  • Costs more than some other economy cars
  • Inability to get Honda Sensing in LX or Sport trims

These benefits or downsides may not make or break your purchase, depending on what you’re looking for in a new vehicle. They are something to consider, though, as you choose your next vehicle and decide if you want a Honda Fit.

It is a perfect car. I do not need a big vehicle for everyday use.
I love the small car. The mileage is very economical, and it is easy to drive, maneuver in the small space and park anywhere. Surprisingly the cargo space is very spacious. It is a perfect car for every day ride for my household. It is very reliable. Honda never let us down with their service. I love the apple car play too. Now I would never touch the phone while I drive. I feel safe in the car and somehow feel better to drive the gasoline car because the mileage is much better than other models.

I like that the 2020 Fit locks on its own after a few minutes unattended.
So far I have not run into any significant issues with my car. Gas mileage is good, it runs smoothly, and it has a nice design. However, I do get a bit of squeaking from possibly the belt when driving at speeds above 35 mph, despite the car being brand new. Also, if you are tall or have long legs, then it may take a bit of effort to be comfortable as I have to bend my legs quite a bit to use the pedals, which leads to some discomfort. Overall, though, I really enjoy driving this car.

Smart and camping gas efficient car.
I love this car because the seats can recline very far back; perfect to camp in. It has great gas mileage which is convenient for my husband and I because we like to go out on a lot of adventures. I also love the touch screen that controls music and directions because it will just automatically hook up to either of our iPhones. The speakers are decent but we will probably eventually put in better ones. Otherwise this car is great and a good buy.

Fast, fun, reliable, safe.
It has a safety features: side view camera, brake assist, back up camera. It has apple carplay, sport mode, great gas mileage. Inexpensive to fill tank. I believe it is very reliable. My trim has nice rims and a beautiful orange color. The back seats drop down all the way for additional storage space and it has a tall storage mode where the back seats collapse upwards to store tall plants and furniture.

Pretty roomie car that is good for cruising around.
My vehicle has no problems really. I think it's a cute perfect little car. It's not really a family car. Maybe if you have kids older than 10. The seats are pretty comfortable. It's not too small or too big. It's easy to drive and fits great into tight places. There is seven cup holders in the car as well. The trunk is also pretty roomie. I wish it had a sunroof but I am happy with the car either way.

Safety! My car is very safe for my family.
Honda has given me a great vehicle for my children to be safe! It is very cheap on gas cost, the mileage is wonderful! I can drive multiple places and multiple times a week and only need gas once a week! I have Honda emergency in my car in case of an accident they can send me help it is similar to OnStar. I love the comfortable seats, the cold ac and the way it provides safety for my family.

Honda fit - small but mighty!
I recently bought the Honda fit lx. I have had no problems with it so far. It drives great and is fun to drive. For a subcompact car, the magic seats allow for a spacious backseat and trunk area for storage and road trips. The fit also has a great hands-free Bluetooth connectivity system so that you can connect your phone's music to the stereo system without any cords.

The Honda fit: a great car for city and country.
Haven't really had any problems but would love if it had a Sirius radio package built in. I always have to use my phone and Bluetooth. As far as comfort, it's a very comfortable car to drive and gas mileage is great. It is also a very roomy car for its size. Plenty of legroom and cargo room. The hatchback adds lots of room for groceries and packages.

Honda fit might be for you.
Good gas mileage but small gas tank. The added economy feature is nice. Good size for parking in small areas, especially in my area. More spacious inside than appears outside. Great visibility. Doesn't have much power bit for an economy car and driving around town, it's perfect. A little noisy but just turn up the music and that fixes that problem.

2020 Honda fit with apple CarPlay.
Roomy interior. Rough ride, good gas mileage. Apple CarPlay is a must. I really like this car. It is a budget get around town car.. I use it for doordash and I start delivery. I am very budget continuous when I bought this car and it meets my needs. One of the things I have come to like the most is the visibility in the driver's seat.

Great for traveling and everyday life. The cameras are my favorite.
We absolutely love our new Honda fit. It gets great gas mileage and is comfortable enough to road trip all over the country in! The side and backup cameras are my favorite feature. The smart knowledge slows you down automatically if you get too close to someone or start to leave the road. Weird at first but my favorite safety feature!

Practical, cute, affordable, perfect.
So reliable! So comfortable and roomy! People are always surprised how much I can fit in the back of my car and how comfortable the back seats are. I can throw my bike in there. Incredible turning radius and gas mileage. Easy to park. Backup camera makes parallel parking a breeze. I am obsessed and recommend Honda fits to everyone.

Small, but can be packed and packs a punch.
I love that fact that for a small car, you can fit lots of stuff in it. Parking is easy because of the size, and it gets good gas mileage for a small tank. It's a smooth ride. The drawback is the cost of oil changes, because it uses synthetic oil. I enjoy the sound quality of the radio and I really like the Bluetooth connection.

Love my Honda fit! Perfect city car.
It is so cute and comfy! Good amount of space for a compact car. Reliable and gets great gas mileage. It works so well for a city. Bluetooth stereo, backup camera included, and has anti-theft measures. I think it is the perfect amount of space to have friends in the car, and the trunk fits so much space for luggage/stuff.
accountCircle Kourtney R on March 31, 2021
Great storage for a compact car.
No problems yet, it drives incredibly smoothly. It picks up speed pretty quickly. It is very fun to drive, and I do not see very many of them on the road, which is nice. It is also very affordable and gets extremely good mileage. The seats fold down in the back so I can haul more than I could in other compact cars.
accountCircle Ryan S on August 27, 2021
Amazingly safe car, great fuel economy!
Lacking some features of other cars, but has amazing safety features. It is a very smooth drive and has great fuel economy. I have had zero problems driving this car. It is very comfortable to drive but does not have any actual armrests. It is reliable and only has some problems on ice or snow covered roads.
accountCircle Shay L on March 18, 2021
Fast but unsteady at times.
I hate how lightweight the car can be. Every turn and bump feels like the car is going to turnover. However it is nice and comfy for its size. It accelerates very well and has adequate trunk and seat space. I like the look and feel of the car as well. It can be improved but it is not bad.
accountCircle Cathy F on May 5, 2021
Great gas mileage, very easy to drive.
I love my little fit, because it is the perfect 'fit' for me. It gets great gas mileage, it is easy to park and handles great. It is a hatchback, so I have plenty of cargo space. It is comfortable and has a great music system. I couldn't ask for a better, more economical car.
accountCircle Anna W on April 20, 2021
Because it is small I am able to fit in most parking spots it is good for me.
I haven't had any real problems with the car it runs really good I get good gas mileage I do wish it was little bigger. Other than that it is very comfy for my two boys. I wish it had heated seats though and I wish the odometer was digital and I wish it had brake assistance.

Why the fit is a mixture of a great car and sporty car.
I absolutely love my Honda fit! It is such an easy car to drive and also comes with the latest updates. Also love how it does on gas mileage. It is also my first hatchback and I love how much space this car gives. I was able to fit some much in it. Such a comfortable car!
accountCircle chris P on August 13, 2021
A great little car for a great price.
Best car I have ever driven in terms of gas mileage and seat comfort for my back. Do not like how low the undercarriage is to the ground - feel as if I am always scraping bottom when going up a steep, sudden incline. Does not have the best pick up but will last forever.
accountCircle Katie K on April 14, 2021
Comfort, convenience & style.
I like the size of my Honda fit. It has room to store most items in the back when the seats are laid down. It also has nice leather seats, which are comfortable for longer car rides. It handles nicely, and the turn radius is a pro: it is easy to park in smaller spaces.
accountCircle Lisa G on July 22, 2021
Great small car that feels like a big car!
Very reliable and great gas mileage. Very comfortable to drive, feels like an SUV because it is not so low to the ground like other small cars. Bluetooth is great. Seats fold down in the back for extra cargo room. A lot of legroom in front and back for passengers.
accountCircle Catherine N on June 25, 2021
Perfect compact car for zipping around the city.
This car is comfortable, reliable, and the perfect size for tight city parking. I drive it around town mostly, but it gets great gas mileage on the road and the sensors are convenient to avoid lane deviations and tailgating. It also syncs easily with my iPhone.
accountCircle Chase A on June 12, 2021
The vehicle is amazing on gas, drives smooth. Has tons of space inside.
After having the vehicle for a month the tire air pressure sensor broke. Other than that there is nothing wrong with it. Everything else is amazing. It drives smooth and amazing on gas. Its small but huge on the inside. The back seats even fold down.
