How safe is the 2021 Honda Pilot?

The 2021 Honda Pilot received the best possible overall rating from both the NHTSA (5-Stars) and the IIHS (“Good”).

The IIHS rated the 2021 Honda Pilot with an “Acceptable” rating for the passenger’s side small overlap front crash test and a “Good” rating for:

The Pilot earned five stars for the side barrier test, including five stars for the driver and five stars for the rear passenger. Finally, the NHTSA rated the 2021 Pilot with five stars for the overall side pole crash test.

Honda Pilot Safety Tech

The 2021 Honda Pilot comes with an impressive list of safety tech – even the base model. The following features are standard on all six trim levels:

  • Collision mitigation braking, forward collision warning, and road departure mitigation
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Lane keeping assist and lane departure warning
  • Automatic high-beam headlights

All trim levels feature a multi-angle rearview camera; however, the base model has guidelines, while the rest of the trim levels have dynamic guidelines.

All trim levels also feature the following:

  • Vehicle stability assist and traction control
  • ABS brakes, electronic brake distribution, and brake assist
  • LED daytime running lights
  • The ACE body structure
  • Advanced front airbags, SmartVent airbags, and three-row side curtain airbags with a rollover sensor
  • The LATCH system for child safety seats and child-proof rear door locks

Finally, all models except the base LX have blind spot information with a cross-traffic monitor.
