Luckily, this article will give you all the information you need to know about issues that drivers have had with the QX60, allowing you to make an informed decision before you decide to go through with a purchase.

What You Need to Know about the Infiniti QX60

The Infiniti QX60 was first released in 2012. This mid-size, luxury crossover provides drivers with plenty of space and the latest technology updates.

Many credit the QX60 for reestablishing Infiniti as a luxury brand. The vehicle was originally known as the JX35, and was revamped into the updated QX60 for the 2012 release.

For environmentally conscious drivers, the Infiniti is offered in a gas-electric hybrid option, in addition to the standard gas option.

Many drivers have found the QX60 to be a luxurious choice, but some complain about the vehicle’s handling, stating that it could be better given that the car is meant to be a top of the line option.

Six Reported Problems with the Infiniti QX60

Sunroof May Crack while Driving

NHTSA Complaint ID: 11278222

2020 Infiniti QX60 Sunroof

Some drivers have reported that the sunroof cracks and seems to explode while driving, causing an influx of glass into the interior of the vehicle.

This can cause injury or can cause the driver to get into a car accident. Fixing this issue involves replacing the sunroof of the car.

Blind Spot on Backup Camera

NHTSA Recall ID: 19V654000

When backing up, drivers may not be aware of objects in their path. A blind spot on the backup camera has been reported by many.

If a driver is relying on the backup camera to see what’s behind them while they’re driving, it’s possible to hit a person, animal, or object, resulting in injury and/or damage to the vehicle.

While Infiniti has issued a recall for other problems with the backup camera, no recall has been issued for the blind spot issue. Fixing this issue may involve replacement of the backup camera.

Computer Malfunction Causing Random Acceleration

NHTSA Complaint ID: 11251933

Many drivers have reported random acceleration of the car while driving. This is extremely dangerous, and has caused some Infiniti QX60 drivers to become victims of car accidents.

Some drivers report that the car randomly accelerates when they’re actually stepping on the brake. A fix for this issue has yet to be reported.

Random Deactivation of Driver Assist System

NHTSA Complaint ID: 11220204

Normally, the Infiniti QX60’s driver assist system alerts drivers if there is a person, animal, or other object in the road.

Some drivers have experienced the random deactivation of this system while driving. This issue may be fixed by installing a new camera, or updating other hardware that causes the blind spot to occur.

Improperly Secured Driver’s Seat

NHTSA Complaint ID: 11282587

While driving the Infiniti QX60, the driver’s seat may feel like it isn’t secure, which can create the feeling of rocking while driving. Fixing this issue may require the replacement of the mechanisms that hold the driver’s seat securely in place.

Foot-Activated Rear Hatch Failure

Vehicle History Report

Some drivers report that the rear hatch fails to open when they attempt to use the easy-access foot-activated feature.

While the rear hatch can still be opened manually, some drivers find it annoying that the foot activation fails so often. Replacing the motion sensor may remedy the problem.

2022 QX60 Problems
Infotainment screen blinking in and out, illumination of lights where a/c is sometimes don’t light up, once you fill the gas tank up it’s not keeping the correct miles before empty every time I fill the tank the number is getting higher and higher. When I first purchased the vehicle for about the first 2 months it’s always read 291 or a little less until empty now it reading when filled between 350 and 397 before empty it’s no way this vehicle is getting that kind of gas mileage and I only use premium gas. Also the cabin is not quite as other vehicles I’ve owned. It’s a nice looking vehicle but it’s not worth the bragging about it has a lot of issues needs to be worked out I’ve taken it in and the dealership service department don’t even know what’s going on with it.
