Red 2020 Audi Q5 From Front-Driver Side

When you’re considering the next purchase of your car, you’re likely considering its safety rating and general safety features. You want to be safe on the road. The 2020 Audi Q5 is a solid choice and one that could be what you are looking for in a car.

Is the Audi Q5 safe?

The 2020 Audi Q5 received a 5-Star Overall Safety Rating from the NHTSA and the highest possible score of “Good” from the IIHS. Combined with a 4.67-Star Owner and 4.7/10 Expert Review Rating from Vehicle History, this is a safe vehicle across the board.

While safety is a big factor, it’s not the only thing that plays a role in if you should buy a car, even from a security and safety standpoint. Here, we’ll break down the test results and show you the other factors that may influence your buying decision.

2020 Audi Q5 Crash Test Ratings

Perhaps the most influential component of data to consider when it comes to determining how safe a vehicle is are these crash test ratings. They are a bit more complex than they seem. Let’s take a closer look at a few of them.

2020 Audi Q5 IIHS Test Results

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gives this vehicle an overall “Good” rating for all of its crashworthiness tests. This includes driver-side and passenger-side overlap risk, side impacts, roof strength, and head restraints and seats. That’s solid.

It does give the vehicle a “Marginal” rating in crash avoidance for the headlights. However, the IIHS still gives this vehicle a “Superior” rating in areas of front crash prevention in its optional and standard systems and a “Good” rating for the ease of use for the LATCH system.

2020 Audi Q5 NHTSA Rest Results

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gave the vehicle a 5-Star rating overall. It maintains this 5-star rating across the board in areas of frontal crash risks and side crashes. The vehicle performs solidly in these areas.

In rollover risk, the NHTSA does mark the vehicle down slightly from the top performance level. It received a 4-Star rating for rollover safety ratings. The dynamic tip result test still yielded no tip risks, and the rollover risk was 16.4%.

Available Safety Tech on the 2020 Audi Q5

More manufacturers than ever are adding safety features to vehicles because drivers want them. They are incredibly helpful in avoiding crashes by keeping drivers alert and even providing immediate support in high-risk situations. Here’s a look at what’s on the Q5.

Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go and Traffic Jam Assist: This feature helps the vehicle to maintain a safe distance from the car in front of them and will automatically brake when the cruise control is on if it deems it necessary to do so.

Audi Pre Sense Basic: This feature is one you don’t see as often. It helps to tighten seatbelts, closes windows, and preps the brakes to act when there is an imminent collision. Also available are optional upgrades to this, such as Plus (automatically brakes when a collision risk is present).

Audi Pre Sense City: This feature helps to reduce the risk of accidents with other vehicles or foot traffic by automatically applying emergency braking if there’s a risk of a collision.

Collision Avoidance Assist: Drivers will find this feature provides steering support to them when switching lanes in an effort to avoid a collision.

Audi Side Assist: This tech feature helps to monitor your blind spots when you’re driving. In that way, it helps you avoid accidents when changing lanes.

Rear Cross Traffic Assist: if you are backing out of a parking space, this feature will detect vehicles that are passing behind you and stops the car to avoid a crash.

Other features on this vehicle include Active Lane Assist, Top View Camera System, Park Assist, and Turn Assist. Keep in mind that most of these are upgradable optional features, not standard.

Should You Buy an Audi Q5?

While the safety standards and reliability of this car are good, it’s still important for you to consider the overall specs and how well this car meets your needs. Get more information at Vehicle History.

Great mountain driving vehicle.
The only thing I am disappointed with the Audi about is periodically when driving there will be a ding and a error message will pop up on the dash. I have googled the issue and several others have experienced the same problem. The fix is to turn off a program that will turn off several other features that I do not want off so I just let the ding happen. I have not taken it in to my dealer to ask about it specifically. I took the car on a weekend trip to the mountains and was very impressed with the performance when driving on 2 lane, curvy roads. Lots of get up and go.

Audi q5 is awesome. Make and model is perfect.
This car is so smooth. I highly recommend and the storage is great. The q5 feels the same as driving the a4 but yet it is larger and has more space as well as a larger engine. The sunroof is awesome as well. The trunk has a lot of room and the roof rack gives the opportunity to store and carry more items. It is a wonderful SUV.

Great tech and a smooth ride.
This vehicle has a great technology package that incorporates many cutting edge technologies such as wireless charging. The amount of features the vehicle has is at first overwhelming, but after a few months of driving it I have figured out how to work everything. It is very easy to drive and smooth on the road.

Audi q5 - drives like a dream.
This car moves quickly and the drive is very comfortable. It is the s model so you can change the drive style to anywhere from dynamic (very low and sporty) to a more comfortable ride. The dashboard has everything... Very easy to use and figure out. The seating is very comfortable.

Beautiful, comfortable, and reliable vehicle that I am very pleased with.
I feel it is a very comfortable and reliable vehicle. The only thing I wish it had as a feature is the automotive start up from the vehicle keychain. The other features are fantastic. This car is very dependable and luxurious. I am very satisfied in my purchase.

Smooth ride and comfortable SUV.
Audi q5 has a smooth drive, very comfortable but is also dynamic, fast and agile. This has been my favorite luxury style SUV that I have had. The seats are comfortable all around, there is plenty of legroom in the front and back and the cargo space is large.
