When you’re buying a supercar, it can be tough to find information on reliability. Whether you’re planning on driving your Maserati as your daily driver or you’d prefer to save it for weekends at the track, it’s a good idea to do some research into what you can expect from your vehicle’s performance over time.

Are Maserati vehicles reliable?

Maserati vehicles aren’t crash-tested, so it’s tough to find U.S.-based reliability data for these vehicles. That being said, U.K. ratings rank Maserati toward the bottom of the list when it comes to reliability in extreme luxury vehicles.

Vehicle History Reviews for the 2020 Maserati Levante:

Owner Reviews: 5 out of 5 stars

Here, we’ll dig into the history of the Maserati brand, and go over reliability information for each of the Maserati models that are currently in production. Finally, we’ll take a look at what you can do if you’re thinking about making a Maserati purchase to ensure that you have all the info you need to make a fully informed purchase decision.

Maserati: A Quick History

Founded in Bologna, Italy in 1914, the Maserati name has become synonymous with nearly unattainable luxury for most. The extreme top-of-the-line auto brand provides drivers with an unparalleled driving experience.

Alfieri, Ettore, and Ernesto Maserati were at the core of the company, and they wanted to create high-performance vehicles that fulfilled their need for speed. While the brothers were all deeply committed to the business side of Maserati, they also each had their turn on the racetrack, bringing their passion for intense power under the hood to the boardroom.

Today, Maserati means absolute, top-of-the-line perfection in the auto world, and for good reason. The performance of these Italian stunners is unmatched.

Reliability of the Maserati Ghibli

The U.K. Reliability Index rates all Maserati vehicles as low on the reliability scale, ranking them far below the next-least reliable luxury brand (Bently). The most common faults with the Ghibli affect the suspension and the electrical aspects of the vehicle. That being said, the one-year maintenance cost of a Maserati Ghibli is only $380. Some third-party testing organizations have found that the Ghibli is lacking in build quality compared to what’s expected from a luxury brand.

According to NHTSA, no recalls have been issued for the 2020 Ghibli, but there have been several communications from Maserati to drivers about repairs. No customer complaints have been filed for the 2020 Ghibli.

Reliability of the Maserati Quattroporte

While individual reliability is not rated for the Quattroporte, the U.K. Reliability Rating still applies. Axle and suspension problems, as well as electrical issues, are noticed by many drivers. According to NHTSA, no recalls or customer complaints have been filed for the 2020 Quattroporte.

Reliability of the Maserati GranTurismo

The GranTurismo has a slightly higher reliability rating than Maserati as a whole, but there’s not a huge difference (Reliability Index scores indicate lower rates of reliability with a higher score. The Maserati brand as a whole scores 774, and the GranTurismo scores 748). The GranTurismo isn’t listed in the NHTSA database. While there have been some recalls on the 2015-2018 GranTurismo, there are no active recalls for the 2020 model. The annual maintenance cost of a GranTurismo ranges from $2,000 to $3,000, putting it far above other luxury vehicles.

Reliability of the Maserati Levante

While the Maserati Levante is not rated for reliability, the fact that there are no NHTSA recalls or customer complaints is a good sign. The average yearly maintenance cost of the Levante is $380, and owner reviews show that drivers love the Levante.
