The 2002 Jeep Wrangler with the 2.5L i-4 engine has an oil capacity of 4 quarts and the 4.0L I-6 engine will require 6 quarts as stated by the manufacturer. The recommended oil for the car is SAE 10w-30 full synthetic and You should replace the engine oil and filter every 3000 - 5000 to ensure Your engine is at its peak performance. Not changing the oil causes the oil to lose its viscosity and will not properly lubricate the internal parts of the engine such as the pistons and cylinders. The price for oil will range from $5 - $10 per quart depending on if it's conventional or synthetic and the brand/quality of the oil. Make sure if You are replacing oil that You also replace the oil filter as well. The oil change is one of the most important service intervals to keep up on and that is why they have the oil light in the truck now to remind You.

Do not use Synthetic oil, the inline six requires standard oil synthetic will cause engine failure.
