The 2003 Jeep Wrangler uses SAE 10W-30 engine oil. Vehicles equipped with the 2.4-liter 4Cylinder engine use about 4 quarts of oil. Those powered by the 4.0-liter inline-6 engine need approximately 6 quarts with a dry filter. Jeep recommends changing this fluid in the Wrangler every 7,500 miles. However, if You do a lot of off-roading or drive in frequent stop-and-go traffic for long distances, Your maintenance schedule may be more frequent. SAE 10W-30 is a bit thicker than what is used in more modern vehicles. It's designed for all weather environments. Castrol Edge, Amsoil, Valvoline, and Royal Purple are popular options. Always check the fluid level with the vehicle parked on a level surface, after the engine has been turned off for at least five minutes. Having the oil changed in a 2003 Wrangler will cost You between $140 and $160. Labor accounts for $30 to $50 of that total.

The 2003 Jeep Wrangler's base 2.4L inline-4 engine needs 4 quarts of 10W30 synthetic oil and the optional 4.0L inline-6 engine uses 6 quarts of 10W30 synthetic oil.

I have the 2003 Jeep Wrangler with the 2.4, 4 cylinder. Not sure where others are getting this 4 quart figure at. I just changed mine today, it nearly took all 6 quarts. I estimate between 5 3/4-7/8’s. I changed out the small oil filter too. I’m quite sure it is all stock with original engine and only 31,000 miles, I’ve owned it for 4 years. I don’t think it has a special oil pan or anything, so was surprised to hear others saying it only needed 4 quarts.
