The 2004 Subaru Impreza uses SAE 5w-30 viscosity, fully synthetic motor oil to keep its engine running. IT has an oil capacity of 4.8 quarts. You can expect to pay between $2 and $34 per one-quart bottle, found at most automotive retail locations, and from some online sellers. To change the oil, You will need to first drain the d***y, old oil from the bottom portion of the reservoir via the drain valve nozzle. If You choose to have it replaced by a professional mechanic or service technician, You can expect to pay between $30 and $132 for labor. Remove the plastic cap from the top of the reservoir, then using a funnel, pour the fresh fluid into the tank, until it reaches the max fill line.

The 2004 Subaru Impreza with the base 2.0L box-4 requires 4.8 quarts of synthetic oil. The optional 2.5L box-4 (WRX) needs 4.2 quarts of oil. The 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX STi (2.5L box-4 with turbo) uses 4.8 quarts of synthetic type oil. Subaru states the following for viscosity: 5W30 (preferred) 10W30/10W40 (above -4 F) 30 weight/ 40 weight/10W50/20W40/20W50 (above 95 For towing/heavy use).
