The 2005 Chevrolet Express Van useS4.5 quarts of oil with the 4.3L V6 engine or 6 quarts with the 5.3L V8 engine. Chevrolet recommends that You use SAE 5W-30 synthetic oil whenever You need to change it. There are two types of oil on the market these days that are very common, synthetic and conventional. Synthetic oil is engineered in a lab to give You greater wear protection and longer life than the standard petroleum based conventional option. This means You will need to change it less frequently, usually 7,500 miles for synthetic and 3,500 to 5,000 miles with conventional. I recommend checking Your oil at least once a month to make sure that it is full and free from any signs of debris.

The 2005 Chevrolet Express Van comes in multiple configurations across multiple platforms. The 2005 Express 1500 comes with either th 4.3L V6 engine (4.5 quarts) or the 5.3L V8 engine (6 quarts). Both use 5W30 synthetic oil. The Express 2500 comes with multiple engine options: the 4.3L V6 (4.5 quarts), the 4.8L V8 (6 quarts), the 5.3L V8 (6 quarts), and the two versions of the 6.0L V8 (engine codes [U] 9 and [U] U) (6 quarts). The 2005 Chevrolet Express 3500's three engine options the 4.8L V8 and the two versions of the 6.0L V8 (engine code [U] 9 and [U] U) both take 6 quarts of oil. All the different engine options across the 1500, 2500, and the 3500 all take the same viscosity 5W30 synthetic oil.
