The 2005 Subaru Forester came standard with a 2.5L 4Cylinder engine but there was also the option to upgrade to turbocharged version of this engine. No matter which model You have they will both have an oil capacity of 4.2 US quarts when the filter is included. Also the same is the type they will use which is fully synthetic 5W-30. The oil plug drain for these vehicles will have a head size of 17mm and will require a torque of 20 lbs-ft in order to remove it. You will want to change out the oil every 7,500 to 10,000 miles on Youre Forester. The fluid costs to fully fill up this vehicle shouldn't be more than $20 to $30.
