The 2006 Chevrolet Express Van oil type and capacity iS5w30 and 4.5 quarts. Having high quality oil is important for the engine to run smoothly. You will run into problems with the oil at some point. Old or bad oil can cause the engine to stop working. Knocking noise may come about from the engine. You could experience terrible gas mileage. A common problem is an awful burning odor. This needs to be viewed closely as soon as possible or the car might explode. Your oil needs to be changed out someday. Every 5,000 to 10,000 miles or so is a good rule of thumb. If You don't replace it, there will be problems with the engine.

The two engines available for the 2006 Chevrolet Express 1500 both use 5W30 synthetic blend oil. The 4.3L V6 base engine takes 4.5 quarts and the 5.3L V8 optional upgrade needs 6 quarts. All the engine options, except for the diesel, for the 2006 Express 2500 all require 5W30 just like the Express 1500. The Express 2500 with the diesel engine option accepts 15W40 or 10W30. Chevrolet prefers the use of 15W40. The base 4.3L V6, in the Express 2500, has an oil capacity of 4.5 quarts the 4.8L V8 takes 6 quarts the 6.0L V8 needs 6 quarts also and the 6.6L V8 turbo diesel requires 10 quarts. The 2006 Chevy Express 3500 has three engines to select from: the 4.8L V8, the 6.0L V8, and the 6.6L V8 turbo diesel. The 4.8L V8 needs 6 quarts of 5W30 synthetic oil. The 6.0L V8 also uses 6 quarts of 5W30. And, the 6.6L V8 turbo diesel consumes 10 quarts of either 15W40 (preferred) or 10W30 (alternate).
