The 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 oil type and capacity iS5w30 and 6 quarts. Your oil needs to be replaced eventually. Every 5,000 to 10,000 miles is a good rule of thumb. If You don't replace it, there will be issues with the engine. Having high quality oil is key for the engine to run smoothly. You will run into problems with the oil at some point. Bad oil can cause the engine to fail. A normal problem is a nasty burning smell. This needs to be looked into as soon as possible or the car might explode. You could experience terrible gas mileage. Knocking noise may come about from the engine.

The 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 has multiple engine options: the 4.3L V6 (4.5 quarts), the 4.8L V8 (6 quarts), the 5.3L V8 with the engine code of [B] B (6 quarts), the 5.3L V8 with engine code [T] D (6 quarts), the 5.3L V8 having engine code [T] T (6 quarts), the 5.3L V8 Flex (6 quarts), and the 6.0L V8 (6 quarts). Chevrolet recommends using 5W30 synthetic oil for all the engines available for the 2005 Silverado 1500. The 2006 Silverado 1500 HD is only available with the 6.0L V8 that has a capacity of 6 quarts and needs a viscosity of 5W30 synthetic oil.
