The 2007 BMW X5 oil type and capacity iS5w30 or 5w40 and 6.9 quarts. Having high quality oil is key for the engine to run smoothly. You will run into issues with the oil at some point. A common problem is an awful burning odor. This needs to be viewed closely as soon as possible or the car might explode. Bad oil can cause the engine to fail. Knocking noise may show up from the engine. You could experience poor gas mileage. Your oil needs to be changed out someday. Every 5,000 to 10,000 miles or so is a good rule of thumb. If You don't replace it, there will be problems with the engine.

The 2007 BMW X5 has two engine options: the 3.0L V6, which takes 6.9 quarts of 5W30 or 5W40 synthetic oil or the 4.8L V8 that uses 8.5 quarts of 5W30 synthetic oil or 5W40 synthetic oil.
