The back seats do not fold down in this vehicle so there is not going to be a way to increase Your cargo area. The trunk being what it is You probably aren't going to want to take this vehicle on a long road trip as You won't be able to fit my luggage in it. Hauling furniture is going to be out of the question unless it's a smaller item such as a chain or a lamp.

The 2016 Hyundai Sonata has a trunk space of 16.3 cubic feet. The trunk is larger than that of most mid-size cars and a huge trunk opening makes loading easier.

Smallish trunk but adequate for most all-day shopping trips for groceries or clothing. The Limited, at least, has fold-down rear seat backs for extended capacity. The Sonata isn’t the right choice for bringing home lumber from the home improvement store. Rent one of their vehicles for that.
