The 2018 Chevrolet Equinox comes in a few variations, each of which have their own capacity. The 1.5L 4Cylinder version holds up to 5.3 quarts, the FWD model takes up to 4.2 quarts and the AWD uses up to 5.3 quarts of motor oil. For optimal performance, Chverolet recommends using a fully synthetic motor oil that meets API certification standards. This includes the sae ow-20 and the sae 5w-30 oils, as they appear to perform best across all of the equinox variants. Its recommended that You change the oil, as well as the oil filter in the vehicle once every 8,000 to 10,000 miles. If Youre using a conventional oil, You should change them every 3,000 to 4,000 miles.

My car is 6 cylinder. Not a 4 cylinder. Does that make a difference?

The type of oil for a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox is full synthetic. The 1.5L 4 -cylinder uses SAE 0W-20 and the oil capacity for the FWD model is 4.2 quarts and 5.3 quarts for the AWD. The 1.6L 4 -cylinder uses 5W-30 (below -20F, OW-40) and holds 5.3 quarts. The 2.0L 4-cylinder engine uses 5W-30 with 5 quarts for FWD and 6 quarts for AWD.
