If the Ford Fiestas has an issue with the immobilizer then You will have a host of problems. The first one You will notice is that the locks will not work as they should. They will lock and unlock as they please, often in rapid succession. The key will also fail to turn in the ignition, or if it does the ignition simply won't start. If the car does start then there will be a lack of power from the engine, and You will have reduced acceleration. To have the system replaced will often cost You about 200 for the parts, and another 100 for the labor. It is not the hardest thing to change out Yourself though, so You may consider trying to save some money.

The ford fiesta will not lock itself just by exiting the vehicle and walking away. It will relock itself in 30 seconds after unlocking if nobody enters the vehicle.
